Murrurundi is a rural town located in the Upper Hunter Shire, in the Upper Hunter region of New South Wales, Australia. Murrurundi is situated 193 kilometres northwest by road from Newcastle and 309 kilometres north from Sydney. At the 2011 census the town had a population of 847 people. The town is almost completely surrounded by mountains of the Liverpool Range, and is located on the Pages River, a tributary of the Hunter River.

Singleton is a town on the banks of the Hunter River in New South Wales, Australia. Singleton is 197 kilometres north-north-west of Sydney, and 80 kilometres northwest of Newcastle. At June 2015, Singleton had an urban population of 16,921.Singleton's main urban area includes the town centre, Singleton Heights, Dunolly, Darlington, The Retreat, Wattle Ponds and Hunterview. Surrounding rural villages include Broke, Camberwell, Jerrys Plains, Goorangoola/Greenlands and Belford. Singleton is located on the north-eastern part of the geological structure known as the Sydney basin, which borders the New England region.

The Bucketts Way is a 151-kilometre rural road that links Gloucester to Taree and Raymond Terrace, in New South Wales, Australia. It was named after the Bucketts Mountains, a prominent mountain range near Gloucester. Between 1928 and 1952 the Bucketts Way served as the alignment of the Pacific Highway between Raymond Terrace and Taree. The entire route is designated as Tourist Drive TD2.

Gazetted in 1969, the 76,512-hectare park is situated between Scone, Singleton, Dungog, Gloucester and East Gresford. The park is part of the Barrington Tops group World Heritage Site Gondwana Rainforests of Australia inscribed in 1986 and added to the Australian National Heritage List in 2007.It is also part of the Barrington Tops and Gloucester Tops Important Bird Area.

Burning Mountain, the common name for Mount Wingen, is a hill near Wingen, New South Wales, Australia, approximately 224 km north of Sydney just off the New England Highway. It takes its name from a smouldering coal seam running underground through the sandstone. Burning Mountain is contained within the Burning Mountain Nature Reserve, which is administered by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service .A trail with information panels runs from the parking lots to the site where smoke emanates from the ground. Glenbawn Dam is a major ungated earth and rock fill with clay core embankment dam with concrete chute spillway plus fuse plugs across the Hunter River upstream of Aberdeen in the Hunter region of New South Wales, Australia. The dam's purpose includes flood mitigation, hydro-electric power, irrigation, water supply and conservation. The impounded reservoir is called Lake Glenbawn. Glenbawn Dam was created through enabling legislation enacted through the passage of the Glenbawn Dam Act, 1946 . The Act appropriated A£1,500,000 as the estimated cost of construction of the dam.

What an adventure it’s been living and working out here in the Outback of Australia, working long hours, in extreme temperatures, with all sorts of creatures (some poisonous) during a desperate drought.
