The Channon is a village in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales, Australia. It is about 18 kilometres northwest of Lismore and about 21 km from Nimbin, NSW. It is part of the City of Lismore. The name of the village, Channon, comes from a local aboriginal term for the Burrawang palm, a type of cycad that proliferates along the ridgelines in the area. Like many villages in the area, there is cattle farming, general grazing and small crop farming. The Nightcap National Park is a national park located in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia. The 8,080-hectare park was created in April 1983 and is situated 35 kilometres north of Lismore. The national park is classed by the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas as Category II and is part of the Shield Volcano Group of the World Heritage Site Gondwana Rainforests of Australia inscribed in 1986 and added to the Australian National Heritage List in 2007. The Nightcap Range is located within the national park.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a heritage-listed zoological garden at 28 Tomewin Street, Currumbin, Queensland, Australia. It was built in 1947 onwards. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 18 September 2009. The sanctuary is world-renowned for its feeding of huge flocks of free-flying wild rainbow lorikeets, which come to the sanctuary to feast off the special mixture which the lorikeets eat. The multitude of events, shows and attractions include dingo encounters, free flight bird shows and feeding of the park's massive saltwater crocodile. Held on the second Sunday of the month, the market was originally set up to trade and barter goods between members of the community and its creation also provided a meeting place for like-minded people to explore current environmental issues. The Channon Craft Market has grown enormously in size and reputation during the last 35 years.

Coronation Park is an ideal location for the market, with thousands of visitors entering the village for the day. Tourist buses come, bringing people from interstate and from overseas to experience this must do event while on their Northern Rivers visit.

The Channon Craft Market brings investment and employment to The Channon village, Lismore and surrounding areas. It enables over 250 stallholders to trade each month in a wide variety of goods which include art, craft, second hand, children's activities, fresh produce and therapeutic goods and services.

The second leg of our Australia trip took us to visit my dear friend Ryder in his home town Byron Bay. He took us round to all the secret spots and was a top host. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a TripAdvisor page for me to review but I'd rate him 10/10 anyway.
