1 Eureka Skydeck :-
Location: 7 Riverside Quay, Southbank, Melbourne, Victoria 3006
eureka skydeck opening hours melbourne - 10AM–10PM
As with many other towers located in cities throughout the world, Melbourne’s Eureka Skydeck 88 is a great “starting point” for a first-time visit by anyone to Melbourne that offers a quick way to get an idea of your bearings while taking in amazing views of the city and its surrounds from the vantage point of the 88th floor of Eureka Tower.
As the highest viewing platform in the entire southern hemisphere, the distance viewable from the top of the tower encompasses not only a 360 degree panorama of Melbourne and its landmarks such as the MCG, but also the picturesque ranges of the Dandenongs that stretch out in the distance.
Obviously when attending a viewing facility such as this the degree of impressiveness the on display is almost entirely dependent on the weather, so attempting to plan the trip up the tower in accordance with weather reports is generally a good idea as a rainy or highly overcast days can greatly restrict the distance of visibility.
2 St. Paul’s Cathedral
Location: Flinders Lane, Melbourne, VIC
Standing as a spectacular example of Gothic Revival style architecture, Melbourne’s St Paul’s Cathedral was constructed back in 1868 as a site of worship for members of the Catholic Archdiocese faith. The cathedral itself is huge and very well-maintained, emitting a feeling of inspiration that can only be truly described upon visiting, and is located in a convenient location close to the main Melbourne shopping districts as well as other landmarks such as Federation Square and Flinder’s Street Station (it’s right across the road, in fact).
Entrance to the cathedral is free and provides a spiritual, relaxing and visually impressive escape from the hustle and bustle of the city as well as welcome relief from the heat on a hot Summer day.
3 Werribee Open Range Zoo | melbourne florida zoo
Location: K Road, Melbourne, Victoria 3030 (30 Minutes South of Melbourne CBD)
Offering a unique wildlife experience that most other zoological facilities in Australia can not, Werribee Open Range Zoo is easily one of the best in the country and is based around the concept of emulating an authentic African savannah situated in a location just 30 minutes from the heart of Melbourne’s city centre.
4 City Circle Tram
Location: Melbourne CBD, Melbourne, Victoria
Operating within the Central Business District (CBD) of Melbourne, this FREE City Circle Tram service is one of the most convenient ways to see the city’s highlights and travel from one point to the next. With such essential Melbourne-area attractions accessible along its route as the Melbourne Aquarium, Old Melbourne Gaol, Federation Square, the Immigration Museum and more, easy access is provided for visitors to the city who may not have their own transport available.
The tram itself retains an old, vintage-style look that adds to the charm of the experience and the authenticity of the ride, while running in both directions at intervals of around ever 12 minutes between the hours of 10am and 6pm Sunday – Wednesday with extended hours available of 10am – 9pm from Thursday – Saturday.
5. Melbourne Zoo
Location: Elliot Ave, Parkville, Melbourne, Victoria 3052
One of the best wildlife facilities in Australia is within easy reach of the majority of accommodation in the Melbourne CBD – Melbourne Zoo. Standing as a world-class facility that is the result of both a huge amount of love and a large investment of money, Melbourne Zoo is spread out over a large distance so that the animals inside are provided with ample space in which to feel comfortable and move about, and is divided up into various “regions” of animals reflecting their worldwide location. Visiting the Zoo offers an opportunity to get back in touch with the many wonders of nature while being located only 4km from the Melbourne city centre.

10 BEST ATTRACTIONS OF MELBOURNE
Affectionately called Marvellous Melbourne during the gold rush of the 1850s, the name is still used today for Australia's second largest city. Located on the banks of the Yarra River, near the entrance to Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne is a modern metropolis steeped in history. Melbourne is a city for all seasons. From wandering the hidden laneways and grand tree-lined streets to the acres of city gardens and parklands surrounding the CBD, Melbourne is vibrant, elegant, and multicultural. So let’s have a small visit of it.
• Yarra River Cruise
A river boat cruise is not only the perfect way to see the sights, it's also an insight into the history of the Yarra River. Many cruise companies can be found along Southbank and take in places such as Birrarung Marr, originally called Birrarung meaning river of mists and shadows, a parkland celebrating the Aboriginal ties with the Yarra River. Another popular cruise goes across to historic Williamstown where visitors can spend time exploring this quaint seaside port.
• Docklands
Docklands is Melbourne's newest precinct. With the highest concentration of green-star rated buildings in the southern hemisphere, the waterfront satellite village is filled with cafés, restaurants, and parklands. The view from the giant observation wheel, The Melbourne Star is spectacular, and the area also houses Etihad Stadium and the Icehouse, a world-class ice sports venue. There is also an art and vintage market held along the waterfront every Sunday.
• Queen Victoria Market
A popular place with locals and tourists, this historic icon has been at the centre of fresh produce shopping since 1878. In addition to the magnificent food halls, market stalls sell everything from clothing, art, and toys to that hard-to-find unique souvenir, five days a week. Tours are available, and special events such as night markets, music concerts, and other functions are often held during summer.
• Melbourne Zoo
Although the 22 hectares of Melbourne Zoo dates back to 1862, the 320 species of animals have the best of modern facilities in state-of-the-art enclosures. The award-winning Trail of the Elephants is an insight into the lives of the resident Asian elephants in a traditional village-garden setting. Another highlight is the Orang-utan Sanctuary where the animals live in their treetop home. With many wild encounters including roar and snore, twilight music concerts, and behind-the-scene tours of some enclosures, Melbourne Zoo offers visitors many innovative experiences.
• Melbourne Museum and Royal Exhibition Building
A short tram ride from the CBD, the Melbourne Museum is surrounded by beautiful gardens and parkland. This modern purpose-built museum houses a diverse collection depicting society and cultures. Highlights include the Aboriginal Centre, Bunjilaka, the children's museum, and The Blue Box a cube protruding off the side of the building. The gallery is a series of hands-on activities designed to stimulate and engage children. Adjacent to the Melbourne Museum is the elaborate Royal Exhibition Building. Built in 1880 to host Melbourne's International Exhibition, the building also held the first Commonwealth Parliament of Australia in 1901. Regular tours are available and the building is still used for exhibitions and special events.
• Arcades and Laneways
Wandering the labyrinth of lane and alleyways around Flinders, Collins, and Bourke Streets is elegant, interesting, and quirky Melbourne at its best. The jewel in the crown is the magnificent Block Arcade in Collins Street. With its mosaic floor, period details, and unique shops, this is the place where late 19th-century gentry promenaded, coining the phrase, doing the block. It's worth queuing for a morning or afternoon tea at the Hopetoun Tearooms. This Melbourne icon dates back to 1892 and is the only original shop still in the arcade today. The opulent Royal Arcade is Melbourne's oldest arcade and Flinders and Degraves Lanes are also well worth exploring. Several companies run guided walking tours of the lanes and alleyways.
