Warrumbungles National Park: climber's paradise
A SPECTACULAR VOLCANIC LANDSCAPE near Coonabarabran in central NSW, Warrumbungle National Park has towering trachyte spires, stunning lookouts, a wealth of wildlife and infinite bushwalks.
The park is at the junction of dry western country and wetter eastern areas, and the region boasts summits of up to 1200m above sea level. These factors result in an unusual mix of vegetation, where spinifex sits alongside flowering heath.
Rockclimbing and bushwalks at Warrumbungle
Camping facilities are excellent and inexpensive, and wildlife is abundant around the campgrounds. Eastern grey kangaroos, emus and koalas are all regular visitors.
The best of the bushwalks are the classic 16.5km Grand High Tops loop via Macha Tor; the exciting 5km loop walk up Belougery Split Rock; and the strenuous 20km return walk to the summit of Mt Exmouth, via Cathedral Arch.
Those with more adventurous hearts can rock-climb some of Australia’s highest vertical cliffs on Belougery Spire, Bluff Mountain and Crater Bluff. These thrilling climbs have names such as “Vertigo” and “Heartstopper”. SUBSCRIBE: The official channel of Australian Geographic magazine.

Sydney Farmstay – Morvern Valley Farm in Bundanoon - Best Self Contained in NSW
The Best Farmstay near Sydney - Self Contained, Many Animals, Log Fires and plenty of Farm Activities.
3 x Boutique themed three bedroom cottages on 25 Farm acres, Half cleared and farmyard and then Coal creek and natural bush with lovely little bush rambles at the back half which then in turn is the Morton National Park.
Morvern Valley has been a farmstay for over 150 years, the land first settled By Samuel Tooth. The property is in the perfect location, being close enough to easily walk to the village and train station.
The village has many convenient shops and Cafes and restaurants for your meals.
Samuel Tooth snr. foreman for the railway being built to connect Sydney and Canberra, saw Bundanoon - he took one look and it was it. He hurriedly made his way back to Sydney, organised a loan securing the land, and collected his wife and child.
Bravely throwing their ‘hat in the ring’ the young couple set out for Bundanoon.
Samuel and Emily work hard and have 13 children. Samuel, is a drover, a passionate gardener, a community spirited and forward thinking man. He makes money owning a timber mill and his 16 strong bullock team bringing the timber up from the gullies to the station. He donated land and timber for the memorial hall and the school.
Beautifully positioned Morvern Valley Farm is just an easy walk to the National Park.
In times gone by Mrs Samuel Tooth jnr - Emily would serve devonshire tea’s with pots of tea made on the wood burning stove in the Kitchen built near the rear of The Original Homestead, scones made within. With milk and cream from Bess the cow, not to mention fresh creamy butter in the wooden butter churn. Jam from the fruit grown on the trees to the rear of the house, boiled and bottled.
Emily would have families from the city come to stay, she advertised in the Sydney Morning Herald, mentioning in her ad her good table(good home cooking) and that she had electric light. She was very busy.
The hard working Tooth family grew acre upon acres of Daffodils every winter for a flower stall at Central Station.
The peace and quiet still exist here at Bundanoon and at Morvern Valley you can still feel the slower pace, and small village feel.
The farm is also featured in 3 of the several Discovery Rambles of Bundanoon three of which pass the property. The self-guided walks take in the earliest settler’s homes, the parks, churches, cemetaries and landmarks of earliest Bundanoon.
In 2018 Morvern valley Farm's lack of minimalism, and clean crisp lines makes the accommodation real - there are collectables from all Morvern’s eras, including some of the modern – this blending is one of the integral elements of true country style.
Old cross stitch doilies lovingly rendered while listening to the radiogram. The old Radiagram still has in pride of place in The Original Homestead.
This was a time when things were not disposable, but carefully looked after and returned to place once used. When patches and materials were repurposed and reused. When bands and paperclips, paper and balls of yarn were kept for when needed.

Australie
After the European discovery of the continent by Dutch explorers in 1606, Australia's eastern half was claimed by Great Britain in 1770 and initially settled through penal transportation to the colony of New South Wales from 26 January 1788. The population grew steadily in subsequent decades; the continent was explored and an additional five self-governing crown colonies were established.

On 1 January 1901, the six colonies federated, forming the Commonwealth of Australia. Since Federation, Australia has maintained a stable liberal democratic political system that functions as a federal parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy comprising six states and several territories.
