Poland has lots of museums, but a large percentage of online searches suggest the Warsaw Uprising Museum is one of the most important ones to check out and the best overall.
A little up the road is Nocny Market, an abandoned train station converted into a new market with food stalls, a barber, dj and bar. It's one of the most recommended places from the Warszawa locals so we had to make sure we took the time to visit and vlog there.

Warsaw UPRISING MUSEUM
The Warsaw Uprising Museum is one of the most important museum's in in Warsaw and in Poland. If you're in Poland's capital city, it's a must see.
WARSAW UPRISING MUSEUM - POLAND DAILY CULTURE - 28 JANUARY 2019
Warsaw Rising: Europe's Next Cool Capital
From the rubble of war, Warsaw has rebuilt itself into a seriously cool capital city. There's a lot to love here already and it keeps growing and changing - just look at the skyline! Development and newness everywhere you look. In this video we visit a lot of Warsaw highlights, starting with the Warsaw Rising Museum which is dedicated to the 1944 uprising by the Polish resistance army. Then we cross the river to the Praga District which has the buzz of becoming the 'Berlin of the 90s' due to cheap rent and abundant artists. In Praga, we hit the Polish Vodka Museum and do a vodka tasting. For lunch we go to the Soho part of Praga to one of Mateusz Gessler's restaurants called Warszawa Wschodnia. Nearby is the Neon Museum which has been called 'the most instagram-able place in Warsaw.' After that we take the train to Łódź where we check in at the amazing PURO Hotel with the best view in the city. Just in time for dinner, we head for the OFF Piotrkowksa area which has been described to us as the 'little Portland' of Łódź. The night ends with a parade of late night...rollerbladers.
Huge thank you to the Polish Tourism Organization for having us!

Warsaw after Warsaw uprising
Warszawa, archiwalne zdjęcia z lotu ptaka po powstaniu Warszawskim. The Warsaw Uprising (Polish: powstanie warszawskie) was a major World War II operation by the Polish resistance Home Army (Polish: Armia Krajowa), to liberate Warsaw from Nazi Germany, ahead of the Red Army advance. The rebellion coincided with the retreat... of German forces and the Red Army approaching the eastern suburbs of the city[10]. Controversially, the Soviet advance stopped short, while Polish resistance against the German forces continued for 63 days with little outside support. The Uprising began on 1 August 1944, as part of a nationwide rebellion, Operation Tempest, when the Soviet Army approached Warsaw. The main Polish objectives were to drive the German occupiers from the city and help with the larger fight against Germany and the Axis powers. Secondary political objectives were to liberate Warsaw before the Soviets, so as to underscore Polish sovereignty by empowering the Polish Underground State before the Soviet-backed Polish Committee of National Liberation could assume control. Also, short term causes included the threat of a German round-up of able bodied Poles, and Moscow radio calling for the Uprising to begin. Initially, the Poles seized substantial areas of the city, but the Soviets did not advance beyond the city's borders until mid-September. Inside the city, bitter fighting between the Germans and Poles continued. By 16 September, Polish forces under Soviet high command reached a point a few hundred meters from the Polish positions, across the Vistula River, but they made no further headway during the Uprising, leading to allegations that the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin had wanted the insurrection to fail so that the Soviet occupation of Poland would be uncontested. Winston Churchill pleaded with Stalin and Franklin D. Roosevelt to help Britain's Polish allies, to no avail. Then, without Soviet air clearance, Churchill sent over 200 low-level supply-drops by the Royal Air Force, the South African Air Force and the Polish Air Force under British High Command. Later, after gaining Soviet air clearance, the USAAF sent one high-level mass airdrop as part of Operation Frantic. Although the exact number of casualties remains unknown, it is estimated that about 16,000 members of the Polish resistance were killed and about 6,000 badly wounded. In addition, between 150,000 and 200,000 civilians died, mostly from mass murders conducted by troops fighting on the German side. German casualties totaled over 2,000 soldiers killed, 7,000 missing, and 9,000 wounded. During the urban combat approximately 25% of Warsaw's buildings were destroyed. Following the surrender of Polish forces, German troops systematically leveled 35% of the city block by block. Together with earlier damage suffered in the invasion of Poland (1939) and the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising (1943), over 85% of the city was destroyed by January 1945, when the Soviets entered the city.

William Richardson visits Warsaw Uprising Museum - a mandatory place to see while in Warsaw! (3)
The Warsaw Rising Museum was opened on the 60th anniversary of the outbreak of fighting in Warsaw. The Museum is a tribute of Warsaw’s residents to those who fought and died for independent Poland and its free capital.
The exhibition depicts fighting and everyday life during the Rising, keeping occupation terror in the background. Complexity of the international situation at the time of the Rising is portrayed, including the post-war years of the Communist regime and the fate of Insurgents in the People’s Republic of Poland (PRL). With the total area of more than 3000 m2, 800 exhibition items, approximately 1500 photographs, films and sound recordings, history of the days preceding the Rising is told. Visitors are guided through the subsequent stages of the Rising until the time when the Insurgents left Warsaw. Their further fate is also portrayed.
The second part of the permanent exhibition, opened in May of 2006 in Hall B, presents the story of Allied airdrops. Its highlight is a replica of a Liberator B-24J bomber. Much of the exhibition has been devoted to the Germans and their allies, showing their actions in Warsaw as documented in official texts from the time of the Rising and in private notes. The stories of eye witnesses of the August and September 1944 events are played in Hall B. These recordings came from the audiovisual Spoken History Archive at the Warsaw Rising Museum. A movie theatre shows films about the Rising on a panoramic screen. At the mezzanine gallery various temporary exhibition are displayed. The Museum tower is a special attraction with a view of the Freedom Park and the city of Warsaw.
