BEST VIEW in Hua Hin: Wat Khao Takiab | Day 2 in Hua Hin, Thailand

Wat Khao Takiab, also known as Monkey Mountain, may possibly be the best view of the Hua Hin skyline. Wat Khao Takiab is located at the southern end of the beach town, about a 15-20 minute drive from the center. Unless you're okay with a little extra heat, we recommend hailing a taxi or motorbike to the top. Once you're at the base of Wat Khao Takiab, you can pay respect to your loved ones. To get the best view, make your way up 128 steps. From there, you can see the beautiful Gulf of Thailand and Hua Hin skyline. Wat Khao Takiab is also home to hundreds of macaque monkeys. They casually hang out and won't bother unless you instigate a situation.

After soaking in the beautiful views from atop Wat Khao Takiab, there is an abandoned cliffside attraction that has an even closer and peaceful view of the water. If you're facing the base of the temple, it's the road on your left. As you descend down the road, you'll see even more monkeys and an unbothered, picturesque location to relax at.

Wat Khao Takiap in Hua Hin Thailand. About 2 hour drive south of Bangkok. Quiet beach resort town with great beaches, shopping, accommodations, and excellent fresh seafood restaurants.

Famous for being one of the original beach resort towns in Thailand back in the 1930's. More importantly it is the location chosen for the King's personal residence.

Monkey temple is a great side trip just a few minutes south of downtown Hua Hin, Thailand.

Best things to do in Hua Hin - Wat Khao Takiap

Next on our list of best things to do in Hua Hin is wat Khao Takiap. But first we go to the fishingharbour to have a seafood breakfast. The water is low so the harbour gives a strange view and a bad smell. On our way to Wat Khao Takiap we actually miss the temple. We end up at a viewing point on the cliff.

this is the beautiful Wat Khao Takiab outside Hua Hin, Songs by Claire & Dave Crosby . Thanks for the great singing ! This temple is one of the most amazing place I have visited in this world ! Thousands of monkeys and amazing view. The Buddhas and monks will give you endless blessing. But be careful with the monkeys as they maybe dangerous. Keep your food away from their view or they may rob you ! And... those monkeys are very big in size and super strong. Don't forget to buy some souvenir at the shop .

Some might call Hua Hin a shitty, quiet beach town, but I had a really wonderful time hitting the beach and exploring the area. After getting some sun on the sand, I headed to Khao Takiab, also known as Chopsticks Hill or Monkey Mountain, where I wandered through the temple complex with some monkey companions.

A popular tourist temple, set atop a small mountain with sweeping views of the sea and beachfront of Hua Hin. The place is home to a huge number of monkeys, so don't have anything edible on you when attending, and be careful how long you open your vehicle door for! Further along the plateu is an old Chinese style shrine. Please note much of this has seen better days and the roadway has collapsed down the mountainside.

Beautiful standing Buddha on the beach, accessible up a short walk. Well worth the visit if you are in Hua Hin. I did have a wander around at the top of the staircase, however there is little to see, except some half finished / abandoned buildings.

Hua Hin Monkey Mountain (Khao Takiab ) Thailand - Chopstick Hill, Wat Khao Lad Temple

Khao Takiab mountain, better known as Monkey Mountain, is a famous mountain overlooking the beaches of Hua Hin, Thailand.

There are thousands of monkeys that live at the mountain and in the area, and they love to hang out at the base of Wat Khao Lad temple during the day.

If you want to feed them, they sell bananas, corn and peanuts at a small shop near the temple. If you walk around with food and drinks in your hands then you are just asking for trouble.The monkeys are extremely curious and pretty daring at times. They are even known to grab food right out of peoples hands and climb all over you.

Of course, I had to check this place out! And, I'm happy I did.

Also, be sure to walk up the stairs to the temple at the top - the views are AMAZING!
