Vientiane: Wat Sisangvone
Here I take a look around the temple of Wat Sisangvone - a temple filled with allegorical figures, ornate carvings & fine paintings. Tucked away, behind a large memorial wall, the temple compound is an island sight surrounded by private homes, located not far from Phra That Luang. The main Sim is currently being painted on the inside and a new bell tower is in progress of being built. I find this temple quite fascinating.
Laos: Vientiane - Wat Oung Tu
War Oung Tu is among the most important temples in the whole of Laos. King Setthathirat established a temple here in the mid-16th century ,but like so many othres, was destroyed by Siam. The buildings we see today date to the 20th century....
The main Sim, (Hall) houses the 16th century bronze Mahawihan Buddha and is flanked by two standing Buddhas. The Sim is noted for the carved wooden facade over the main entrance....
The Temple also houses the Sangha College, a renowned school for monks. Monks come from all over Laos to study the Dhamma, the teachings of the Buddha

Vientiane: Wat Chanthabuli
In the centre of old Vientiane on Thanon Fa Ngum is the Buddhist temple of Wat Chanthabuli. Known by the locals as simply Wat Chan. Set on a corner sight and surrounded by whitewashed walls, the temple has a well kept garden, interesting architectural motifs and place of tranquilty against, not only the traffic, but the heat of the sun.....

Vientiane: Wat Tai Yai
Here I take a look around Wat Tai Yai in Vientiane, not far from the airport and close to the Mekong River. Despite being on a busy road, once inside the temple compound, all is quiet and calm. I like the golden stupa here and the murals in the main hall are colourful and well executed.

Vientiane Laos Quick Tour And Info
My first trip back to Laos (01/2013), having left the country for 35 years since I was a boy. Fortunately, I still could speak Lao so I was able to make my ways around my birth country (that was so new and strange to me) without much difficulty. On this video, the taxi driver gives me a quick tour of Vientiane (Vieng Jan), the capital of Laos. Also, many things, sights and scenes are within walking distance (from 15 minutes to an hour). Of course, if you like walking, like me, you can see the entire city on foot. The most used monies are Lao Kip, Thai Baht, and American Dollar. The most used languages are Lao, Thai, English and Chinese.

The rooms here feature polished plaster walls, high ceilings, large wooden furniture, and en suite bathrooms. There is a convenient 24-hour front desk, which is quirkily created out of the front end of a vintage car. Here, you can book tour services, and it provides luggage storage, too. There is an outdoor swimming pool to cool off in as well as a gym. A restaurant and bar on site are open till late, but there are plenty of drinking and dining options on the doorstep.
