The Budharatanamondob at Wat That Foun, Vientiane, Laos
Here I take a close look at the recently completed Budharatanamondob Shrine at Wat That Foon. The temple is located in the centre of the city, close to the Morning Market (Talat Sao). Construction of the Shrine was begun on the 7th November 2010 and was completed on the 4th May 2013, being funded, for the most part, by private donations.
The Shrine is beautiful with exquisite carvings, reliefs and intricate fretwork. The interior is covered with more carvings and every surface covered with brightly coloured painted borders.

Laos: Vientiane - Wat Oung Tu
War Oung Tu is among the most important temples in the whole of Laos. King Setthathirat established a temple here in the mid-16th century ,but like so many othres, was destroyed by Siam. The buildings we see today date to the 20th century....
The main Sim, (Hall) houses the 16th century bronze Mahawihan Buddha and is flanked by two standing Buddhas. The Sim is noted for the carved wooden facade over the main entrance....
The Temple also houses the Sangha College, a renowned school for monks. Monks come from all over Laos to study the Dhamma, the teachings of the Buddha

Wat Phonkok, Vientiane, Laos
Here I take a look around the small and charming Buddhist temple of Wat Phonkok. The temple is located at the city limits and, for the present, is surrounded by farm land and only accessible by dirt road. The external carvings on the main Sim, set in relief, are interesting and well executed. The grounds are surrounded with ample gardens and grasslands. A quiet place away from the traffic and the hubbub of city life........

Laos: Vientiane discovered
I find it hard to believe that Vientiane is a capital. The feeling here is more akin to a sleepy, laid back country town. Non-the-less, capital it is, the seat of government and powerhouse of the country. Vientiane means 'Sandalwood City' and is pronounced Viang Chan. Viang is Lao for 'city' or 'place with walls'; Chan means sandalwood. Not that there is much sign of city walls or sandalwood.....!
I immediately took to the place with its tree-lined boulevards, dozens of Buddhist temples, quaint back streets, wonderful food stalls, coffee houses and topping the list, magnificent views of the mighty Mekong....
Laoe: Vientiane - Wat That Luang Neua
Here I take a close look at Wat That Luang Neua, the residence of the Supreme Patriarch (Pha Sangkhalat) of Lao Buddhism. I have concentrated on the new building of the temple, completed recently and now open to the public, most days, when ceremonial occasions dictate. I like this building as it encompasses many Lao motifs, has a number of finely painted wooden door and window panels and in the interior the murals are good too.

Capital of Laos
Vientiane, Laos' national capital, mixes French-colonial architecture with Buddhist temples such as the golden, 16th-century Pha That Luang, which is a national symbol.
Along with broad boulevards and tree-lined streets are many notable shrines including Wat Si Saket, which features thousands of Buddha images, and Wat Si Muang, built atop a Hindu shrine.

About Me:
My bio is pretty random: In short, I am a professional singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada who moved to Manila, Philippines which sorta became my Hollywood because my first Youtube channel MIKEYBUSTOSVIDEOS grew popular due to Filipino comedy videos. Meanwhile, I'm also a big biology geek who is obsessed with ants, so I built an internationally operating ant business supported by another popular channel called ANTSCANADA, and well basically, today I travel and tour around the world doing what I love so I wanted to start this vlogging channel, in hopes to encourage you guys to follow your dreams no matter how random, by showing you what happened when I followed mine! You just never know where life will take you when you listen to the yearnings of your heart!
Wat Si Saket in Vientiane, Laos
Wat Si Saket is a Buddhist wat in Vientiane, Laos. It is situated on Lan Xang Road, on the corner with Setthathirat Road, to the northwest of Haw Phra Kaew, which formerly held the Emerald Buddha.
With very contemplative ambience, probably the oldest standing temple in Vientiane and among the most atmospheric. Built in 1818 by Chao Anou in the Bangkok-style and hence left unsacked when much of Vientiane was razed in a Siamese raid in 1828. Within the cloister walls are hundreds of niches housing Buddha images large and small, made of wood, stone, silver and bronze. In the centre of the courtyard is a five-tier-roofed sim (ordination hall) housing yet more Buddha niches and beautiful, but fading murals of the Buddha's past lives.
Wat Si Saket was built in 1818 on the orders of King Anouvong. Si is derived from the Sanskrit title of veneration Sri, prefixed to the name of Wat Saket in Bangkok, which was renamed by Anouvong's contemporary, King Rama I. Wat Si Saket was built in the Siamese style of Buddhist architecture, with a surrounding terrace and an ornate five-tiered roof, rather than in the Lao style. This may have kept it safe as the armies of Siam that sacked Vientiane in 1827 used the compound as their Headquarters and lodging place. It may now be the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane. The French restored Wat Si Saket in 1924 and again in 1930. Wat Si Saket features a cloister wall with more than 2000 ceramic and silver Buddha images. The temple also houses a museum.
