Ingenia Holidays Big 4, Lake Macquarie NSW
206. The Ingenia Holidays Big 4 Caravan Park at Lake Macquarie is a fantastic location and really well priced Caravan Park. We based ourselves here while we discovered the region.
The park has good, secure, gated entry and comes with a big pool, great camp kitchen, childrens playground plus a jumping pillow.
There is all the facilities you would normally expect with powered sites, water, bins and good amenities. The Dump point was harder to find, it is beside the toilet block and has an aluminum lid not the blue one you would often see. There were no clear identifying signs to it at the time.
The sites were all good size and ample space.
It is a Pet friendly park however check with staff first during peak periods.
We had good Telstra and Vodafone coverage.
Cost to stay is:
Weekend: $39 per night overlooking water, $35 back from waterfor powered site and water
Mid week: $27 per night overlooking water, $25 back from water for powered site and water
Our stay was 2-5th December 2018

This 8.5km walk takes us from the HQ Campsite past the Hunter and Mcleans Lookouts and then along the top of a cliff face before dropping down into the creek and then climbing back up to Heaton Lookout. The view from this lookout is great!
It was a very hot and humid day and I used up twice the amount of water I normally do!

Teralba Station to Charlestown Park (Great North Walk)
This 13km walk part of the Great North Walk, takes us around the northern end of Lake Macquarie and around to Warners Bay, then along some streets before circling the golf course and going under the bypass, eventually arriving at the Pacific Highway at Charlestown in the middle of Newcastle City. The first of three transport stages to the end of the GNW at Queens Wharf. Somewhat different to the preceding walks through very isolated areas in the mountains, but still had its own charm.

The Pines Forest Park - Olney State Forest - Watagan Mountains
The Pines Forest Park is a beautiful spot for a picnic, BBQ or to camp. Located in the Olney State Forest in the Watagan Mountains, it's around an hours drive from Newcastle (Australia).
We decided to go there for a BBQ over the Easter long weekend. While cooking our BBQ lunch, I wacked on a couple of cameras to capture the way the light moved through the trees.
Enjoy.

Yagon Campground - Myall Lakes National Park, NSW
The Yagon Campground in the Myall Lakes National Park is a gorgeous little campground with lovely trees and shrubs. There's a walk to the beach and a big history of sand mining in the area. The road in is a little rough off road but 2WD accessible. There are drop toilets, picnic tables and gas BBQ's.
