The White Sands Resort and Conference Centre is situated on an idyllic private beach, just 25km north of Dar es Salaam and Julius Nyerere International Airport. Dar es Salaam means ‘abode of peace’ and it is no surprise that guests start to relax and feel at peace as soon as they enter the reception of the White Sands Resort and Conference Centre. The resort is on Mbezi Beach, one of the long white sandy beaches that makes Tanzania a haven for beach lovers. The decor contributes to the feeling of being in paradise.

Recirculating Aquaculture system in Dar es salaam Tanzania
This RAS is based on 10K litre concrete tanks. There are three tanks each capable of carrying 200kg to 250kg of tilapia
Each tank is installed with own mechanical filter but they share a single biofilter. The water is pumped around the system by 2 amphibious pumps 50w each. Each rearing tank and the biifilter tank is installed with own air pump. The average daily electricity consumption is 10kWh (10units)
The mechanical filters are flushed once every day and the daily water exchange for the entire system is 1,000litres. The waste water is rich in nitrate and other nutrients suitable for crop production esp vegetables.
Stocking density is 80-100/m³. Stocking weight is at least 10g and harvesting weight at 250g to 300g after 4 months.
For now we feed imported feed made by Koudjis sold at about Tsh 3,000.
