The West Clare Railway (New Song)
I wrote this about 15 Years ago for a Summer Show in Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland. Planning to use it now for a fund raising Drive, to get some Video Equipment for a local Drama Group. A Big thanks to my mate Mick, for doing such a great job with the Lead Vocals.

West Clare Railway
In August 2009, the 117-year-old Slieve Callan was returned to service on the West Clare Railway after an absence of more than half a century. The locomotive is now running on 2.5km of restored narrow-gauge track at Moyasta Junction. Locals hope to restore more of the line between Kilkee and Kilrush and have appealed for the co-operation of landowners.
There were dramatic scenes at Ennis railway station in April 1996, when protesting Ennis townsfolk tried to stop the removal of the 40-tonne Slieve Callan to west Clare. With gardaí watching, a crane lifted the engine - with Ennis man Oliver Moylan still onboard - onto a flat-bed truck for transport to Moyasta.
The steam engine, which worked the West Clare railway between 1892 and 1952, was then sent to England for a 10-year restoration job that cost between €500,000 and €1 million.

Craggaunowen - The Living Past Experience.
Kilmurray Sixmilebridge Co. Clare
Craggaunowen -- the Living Past Experience is Ireland's original award winning Pre-historic Park. Situated on 50 acres of wooded grounds, the Park interprets Ireland's pre-historic and early Christian eras. It features a stunning recreation of some of the homesteads, animals and artefacts which existed in Ireland over 1,000 years ago.
Explore the Crannog, the Ring Fort, the Medieval Castle and the 'Brendan Boat' -- a leather hulled boat built by Tim Severin who sailed across mid-Atlantic re-enacting the voyage of St. Brendan and the early Christian monks reputed to have discovered America centuries before Columbus.
Visit Craggaunowen Castle built in 1550 standing defiantly on a crag overlooking the lake. See rare animal breeds - specimens of the pre-historic era.

Clare Railway Centenary
Clare Railway Centenary - The first section of the Riverton to Spalding railway was opened at Clare on July 4 by the Governor. A large official party, including the Premier and all the Ministers, went up by special train in the morning, reaching Clare shortly afternoon, and the ceremony was performed on arrival. Free train rides to Clare were provided for children on the route of the line and the children at Clare were also given a free ride.
The Riverton-Spalding railway was authorised under an Act of 1913. Contracts were let for the construction of the line between Riverton and Clare in three sections, and the work was carried out by Mr. George Baxter, except for a portion done departmentally by the Chief Engineer for Railways. The length of the line opened last week was 28 miles 5 chains, and it cost £252,300. It is estimated that the total cost will amount to £286,300 when completed.
The children began the ceremony with The Song of Australia and God bless our splendid men.'' The Minister of Railways (Sir Richard Butler,) invited the Governor to open the line. Ribbons of blue and old gold were held across the rails by his Excellency and Mr W. B. G. Lewcock, a veteran identity of Clare, who is popularly spoken of as the father of the railway, the successful agitation for which he initiated some years ago. Cheers were given as a decorated engine, on the front of which the Royal Coat of Arms was emblazoned, steamed up
