Walking the white sands of Jervis bay - from plantation point(Nelsons beach) part 1
Walking the white sands of Jervis bay, from plantation point(Nelsons beach) to Moona Moona creek - the initial stretch.
Yes. You can visit Jervis bay by public transport. The window of stay will be less but possible. You need to travel to Kiama by train from Central Station, then take connecting train to Bomaderry and then Nowra buses to Jervis bay. Opal only works till Bomaderry station. You can start walking along the coast line from Nelsons beach all the way to Moona Moona creek. There is small rocky area which we can avoid and use the walkway provided and continue with the journey. The next long stretch of the walk will be posted in another video.
Five of the Best White Sand Beaches in Jervis Bay (That Aren't Hyams Beach!)
Hyams Beach is a victim of its own success - on a sunny summer's day thousands of people descend and turn paradise into purgatory. But if it's white sand you're after, you can find it on plenty of other awesome beaches in the bay. This is my round-up of Hyams alternatives that are better than their famous cousin!

Gosangs Tunnel, Currarong NSW, near Jervis Bay

Honeymoon Bay Campground, Jervis Bay NSW
212. Honeymoon Bay Campground, Beecroft Weapons Range, Jervis Bay NSW
One of our favourites stays in Oz, this is bush camping at its best.
The Honeymoon Bay Campground in the Beecroft Weapons Range at Jervis Bay in NSW is only open on weekends. It is owned by the Royal Australian Navy and has live firing during the week.
The gates open at 1pm and you go through a checkpoint before entering. We arrived about 12.30pm and we were one of the very last in the queue and were there about an hour, so we suggest arriving by midday which is when they begin to take bookings.
Once you arrive head to the information centre and go through the booking process. There is no online booking.
Take cash, there is no Eftpos and payment is by cash only.
All sites are unpowered and there is no drinking water available.
There are portable toilets throughout the campground and bins are also available.
No pets are allowed.
We had coverage with Telstra and Vodafone.
Flying Drones are not allowed in Jervis Bay region by CASA Can I Fly There app however further research suggests it may be possible on weekends but we didn’t use ours.
The Point Perpendicular Lighthouse is a short drive away and there are lots of great walks to places like the 5km round trip to Silica Cove Beach which was stunning. Here we came across the rusted wreck of the St Martins De Porres.
Cost to stay is $15 per site for 2 adults. Extra adults are $5 each and children 15 and under are free.
Our stay was 8-9th February 2019

JERVIS BAY AREA // MURRAYS BEACH, HUSSKISON, HYAMS BEACH & BRISTOL POINT BEACH
Just when you thought the South Coast of NSW couldn't get any better, it did!
Classified with the whitest sand in the southern hemisphere Hyams Beach is a tourist spot in this area which you have probably hear across somewhere in your travels. But take it from a local, its over rated. Why not check out one of these other beaches around the area like Murrays Beach or Bristol Point Beach?
In this video Meg takes us to the Jervis Bay Area and shows us some of the amazing beaches you can expect to find around this area. My fave beach is Murrays but I was blown away by how stunning Bristol Point Beach as was and the fact I had never discovered it before just blew my mind.
Jervis Bay Area is about 1.5 hours north of Batemans Bay and a couple hours south of Sydney. The township of Huskisson is always bustling and there are great eateries and boutique shopping to be discovered. You could certainly make a weekend of it and get out of the city as there are a range of accommodation options in the town and I believe there are also some amazing camping spots just outside of the township.
If you would like to check out any of these spots we will include the links to each of the beaches seen in this video below:

Murrays Beach -
