Trekking in Thailand & Nepal (A Foreign Excursion)
Mr Foreman and his esteemed companion Mr Ganley document their adventures in foreign lands in the first installment of a 3 part series titled 'A Foreign Excursion'. This first film features their journeys through Thailand and around the Annapurna circuit in Nepal.
A Foreign Excursion Pt2 (Into India):
Trekkers climbing 10,000 ft to reach Sete village - Nepal
Everest climbers had to climb 10,000 ft to reach Sete village in Nepal during their expedition to Everest. They are filling up water for their trek.
Indian Army added another feather to its cap in May 2001, when its mountaineers successfully scaled Mount Everest and put a record eight members and seven Sherpas on the summit. This is the largest number of summiteers on Mount Everest in an Indian expedition.
The mighty mountain ranges of the Himalayas have, over the centuries, inspired not only man's imagination and spiritual quest, but also his spirit of adventure. Mount Everest, the tallest of the peaks of the Himalayas as also the whole world, stood in its unattainable isolation for thousands of years, till Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary conquered it in 1953. Since then, at least a thousand climbers have set foot on it. That at least 200 have lost their lives while trying to scale the peak speaks of the infinite dangers involved in the task.
The Indian Army Mount Everest Expedition was flagged off by the Chief of the Army Staff on 1st March 2001 at New Delhi. It was led by Col. Krishan Kumar. After flagging off, the team moved to Nepal and after a long trek from Jiri, reached Base Camp of Everest on 3rd April 2001.
The stocking and establishment of various camps was completed by 10th May 2001 and summit attempts were planned for 14-15 May. However, bad weather forced the team to return to Base Camp from Camp-II. Weather remained bad for a few days. Finally on 19th May the team started from the Base Camp for their final attempt to reach the summit. On 20th May the first summit team reached Camp-HI and the next day they reached South Col around 1300 hours. The same night the summit attempt started. After making their way through severe winds and subfreezing conditions, the first party consisting of seven members and three Sherpas finally reached the summit of Everest on 23rd May between 0720 hours and 0845 hours. The second team comprising one member and four Sherpas left Camp-Ill around 0630 hours on 23rd May and reached the summit of Mount Everest around 0545 hours on 24th May 2001.
Smooth de-induction to the Base Camp was subsequently carried out wherein all the camps were closed. In keeping with the Indian Army's care and concern for the protection of the environment, all waste was brought down from the mountain.

ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME: Trekking the Nepal Himalayas
Sikles trek Namunla pass visit Nepal 2020
Online Tv#Sikles#NamunlaPass#VisitNepal2020
Namun La Pass Trek route was surveyed by Sir Chris Bonington and Barney Rosedale many years ago. The route to the Namun La (5,560m), a high pass along an old trade route between Pokhara and Manang. This route proved to be a unique and less-trekked way to connect onto the main Annapurna Circuit Trail. Wilderness Excursion now offers the opportunity to walk in these old footsteps across a spectacular region of Nepal’s Annapurna Himalayas.
This newly introduced Namun La Pass trek to foreign trekkers, the trail to Dudh Pokhari (Milk Lake) and the Namun La Pass is situated on the border of the Lamgung, Manang and Kaski districts of Nepal and provides a little-known and little-traveled access onto the great Annapurna Circuit. Legend has it that some three thousand years ago the Tamu community (now Gurung) of Nepal settled in this area after crossing the Namun La Pass from Tibet. This region is also known as Tamuwan and, at one time, had a king and palace.
There is a strong belief that bathing in the chilly Dudh Pokhari can wash away a lifetime of sins. During the Janai Purnima (Sacred Thread Ceremony) pilgrims come from all over Nepal to visit this holy site. Many devotees think this place is a gateway to heaven. During this varied trek, you’ll encounter a wide range of sights; picturesque villages, terraced farmland, glacial lakes, steep-sided gorges, raging rivers and, of course, incredible mountain scenery of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek one of life time holiday experience!
Annapurna Base Camp Trek probably the best legendary and classical treks in the world offers breathe stopping Mountain View, give opportunity to experience the typical Nepali village, local people and their way of living traditional life in Himalaya of Nepal. The Annapurna Base Camp route goes passing through spectacular and tranquil landscapes, charming Gurung and Magar villages, lush green Rhododendron, bamboo and alpine forests to the trip’s last and final destination, Annapurna Base Camp at the height of 4130m (13546ft.)Natural Experience
The trail is equally a delight for natural experiences. On the third day of our trekking, we leave our luggage in hotel at Ghorepani for Poon Hill excursion before dawn to catch the spectacular sun rise. Poon Hill is one of the best viewpoints in this trek for a sun-rise view and mountain vista. Mount Dhaulagiri, the Annapurna Range and Mount Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) to the northern part and the Butterfly Peaks in the far western part are all visible from atop Poon Hill. (SHOULD YOU SAY SOMETHING ABOUT WHAT YOU SEE WHEN YOU REACH ABC, in this part?). Finding yourself in the base giant Annapurna I (8091m) with 360 degree Mountain View is terrifically beautiful that is beyond your imagination that is an unforgettable lifetime mountain holiday experience in Nepal.
Hot springs
There is a natural hot spring near Jhinu Danda, you can cleanse yourself spiritually in natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. Locals believe that the waters have a healing quality that ease away your aches and pains.
People and Culture
The locals we will encounter in Annapurna Base Camp Route are mix ethnic groups; there are Brahmans and Chhetris in lower elevations and Mongoloid Himalayan people in Himalaya. Mostly there are Gurung and Magar people in the area, famous for Gurkha regiment. If you would like to explore more cultural and traditional heritages in Himalaya then Wilderness Excursion suggest you to trek to Langtang, Manaslu, and Everest region. But no doubt that Annapurna is the best for scenery as some 55000 people trek there every year.
Getting there and away
Like most of the Annapurna treks except Annapurna Circuit, Annapurna Base Camp Trek also starts and ends in Pokhara - second biggest city and naturally blessed place to relax after the big hike in Annapurna.
