The colonial American charm of Williamsburg Plantation makes it the perfect spot for a family vacation.
Historic Area
Wondering what you'll do and see in Williamsburg? If you're into history, you'll be in good company! Known as America's Colonial Capital, history abounds in Williamsburg. Colonial Williamsburg, a living history museum, depicts the life and times of Colonial America. At nearby Jamestown Settlement, the story of America's first permanent English settlement (13 years before the Pilgrims landed in Massachusetts) and the Virginia Indians they encountered is told through film, gallery exhibits and living history. Fast forward to the Revolutionary War with a visit to historic Yorktown. In October, 1781, the Siege of Yorktown culminated with the British surrender to American and French forces under George Washington's command ending the six-year Revolutionary War and setting the stage for a new government and nation. Who said history can't be fun? And when in Yorktown, don't miss a visit to the Riverwalk area where you can walk on the beach, visit their antique and specialty shops and experience unique dining opportunities.

Yankee Candle Williamsburg, VA
Yankee Candle Williamsburg, VA
We have passed by the Yankee Candle in Williamsburg Virginia but have just never had the time to stop by. We have never been in any Yankee Candle location that was like this. We were shocked at how much was in there and we spent almost two hours looking around and shopping. It was a lot of fun and there was a lot of great stuff! We will definitely stop by any time we are in Williamsburg.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Busch Gardens Williamsburg (formerly known as Busch Gardens Europe and Busch Gardens: The Old Country) is a 383-acre (155 ha) theme park located in James City County, Virginia, about 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Williamsburg, originally developed by Anheuser-Busch (A-B) and currently owned by SeaWorld Entertainment, a division of Blackstone Group. The park opened on May 16, 1975, adjacent to Anheuser-Busch's brewery and near its other developments including the Kingsmill Resort complex. The park is themed around old-world Europe.
The park was originally called Busch Gardens: The Old Country, reflecting the European theme. In 1993, the park was renamed Busch Gardens Williamsburg before briefly being named Busch Gardens Europe in 2006 until it returned to the Williamsburg name in 2008. Similarly, its sister park in Florida was originally called Busch Gardens: The Dark Continent until it was officially renamed Busch Gardens Tampa Bay until a brief switch to Busch Gardens Africa from 2006 to 2008. In 2010, the estimated attendance of 2.8 million placed it in the top 20 most-visited parks in the US.

New England Living TV: A Home for Generations in Newtown, CT
Summer and Pete, homeowners in Newtown, Connecticut, expand their farmhouse to accommodate their young, growing family. While the renovation doubled the size of the home, they maintained historic elements from the original 18th century structure throughout: wood beams line the ceiling, chestnut wood makes a fireplace mantel, which rests on stone from the found on the surrounding land.
The setting is truly New England. Newtown, in the southwest corner of the state, has a rich history and a charming downtown with shops, restaurants and cafes. Summer and Pete’s property has 63 acres with apple orchards, a pond, stone terrace, and a large barn for 16 horses. More than half of the property is covered in wooded trails, ideal for horseback riding.
In the bedroom carved into the wood framing is a quote: “Family ties are precious threads; No matter where we roam; They draw us close to those we love; And pull our hearts toward home.”
“The house is ours and we live here now, but it is going to be a generational property,” says Summer, who, along with her husband, wants to make sure the children know they are always welcome back home.
New England Living TV is sponsored by Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, Clarke Appliance Showrooms, Kohler, 7 Tide and Supply New England.

5 Becontree Heath, Granby, Connecticut
This is a wonderful early 80s reproduction colonial home. From the plank weather door to the center chimney, the home exudes the traditional New England home of the late 18th century.
Rich wide Southern yellow pine floors, heavy beams and timbers, colonial style window and door casings are more features that support the period look.
Built by quality craftsman Tom Mulcahy, the home is solid from top to bottom. A newer kitchen was installed in recent years, which is bright and fresh. DuPont™ Corian® counter-tops and a very special glass china cabinet are a few extras the kitchen offers.
Two major additions have been added since the original owners built the home; a family room with cathedral ceilings and a masonry fireplace plus a 3 season, screened in porch. The living room features two fireplace openings, a formal sitting space, a area large enough to support a grand piano and a lovely breakfast/informal eating area with a bay window looking out toward the back yard and forest.
Leading to the second floor is a traditional old Yankee staircase but with a wall of exposed brick from the center chimney mass. Upstairs the home has 3 spacious bedrooms all with access to a private or semi-private bath. The master bedroom is generous with a walk-in closet and room for a large bookshelf/entertainment center.
The home has been updated with a new Boderus heating system for miserly use of fuel in these times where that is so important.
The home is privately located near the end of a short cul-de-sac street. It sits back from the road on a generous lot of over two acres. A stream bed forms a boundary for the west property line and provides a peaceful and serene sound in season. A convenient storage shed provides ample space for lawn and garden necessities.
The developed yard is minimal and easy to maintain. A deck and patio offer access from both the family room and the screened in porch.
Please call today for a private showing of this lovely home.
Competitively priced in the low 300s.
