In this visitor centre video we literally put words into William Lyon Mackenzie King's mouth, as we brought the story of his childhood home, Woodside, to life. In this entertaining, fun-filled 'dramedy', an animated King's face, on an actual Canadian fifty-dollar bill, provides a voice to Canada's most celebrated Prime Minister. The talking bill is found in a Kitchener park, by an average Canadian, who is then instructed by King to take him to his childhood home. At Woodside, he is given a gift like no other, a private tour by King himself.

Woodside's 5 hectare (12 acre) grounds were the boyhood home (1886-1893) of Canada's 10th prime minister, William Lyon Mackenzie King. British lawyer James Colquhoun built the original home in 1853. Parks Canada restored this national historic site as it was during the King family's 1893 residency. The landscape and close-up images are accompanied by 2 period compositions: Chit-Chat (Babillage) by Ernest Gillet, and Songe d'Automne by Archibald Joyce. Quotes about attentiveness by Jose Ortega y Gasset and Andrew Carnegie bookend the photographs.

Joseph Schneider Haus NHS, Kitchener Ontario
Kitchener's first settlers, Pennsylvania-Germans Joseph & Barbara (Eby) Schneider, came in 1807. They built this home in 1820, replacing their one-room log cabin. Their 181 hectare (448 acre) farm included an 1816 sawmill powered by the adjacent stream, later called Schneider Creek. The restoration is 1856-era. The exterior and interior images are accompanied by music by J. S. Bach. Relevant quotes by Sophocles and Harvey S. Firestone bookend the images.
