Cattle for sale at Kyneton made to $975 a head on Jan 21
Cashed-up local-district restockers pushed powerhouse feedlot buyers to their limits at Kyneton’s Central Highland cold-country annual weaner sale on Wednesday.
Contesting a quality yarding of 1550 head, the repeat buying of the local pasture-feeders saw selling rates further improved on south-western sales held earlier in the month as bidding climbed to average 240c/kg lwt across the predominately Angus, Hereford and Charolais steer yarding while heifers averaged almost 223c/kg lwt.
A market top of $975 a head was paid for a 16 pen of Angus weighed at 430kg, and sold by J Hale of Kyneton while a standout yard of 368kg Angus steers, 368kg, offered by Barfold Beef spun the calculators out to 255c/kg on their sale price of $940/head.
Teys Australia, Charlton feedlot and Thomas Foods International, Murray Bridge were the major feedlot operators on the day back up by a solid interstate order provided by Elders Tamworth, NSW.

Spectacular, Serene & Sustainable - 450 Acre Mountaintop Hideaway
This spectacular property sits atop the Dorrigo Mountain and offers absolute privacy and serenity on a 450 acre lifestyle block with Cedar Log Creek providing personal waterfalls and swimming holes. The home is only 18 months old and the property offers a total 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 3 living areas, covered verandahs & central courtyard plus more. There are 2 huge sheds, mountain spring water on tap, a unique stone cottage, magnificent views, stand alone solar system, backup generator, solar and gas HWS and over 400 acres of precious timber. This property is easily accessed on Armidale Road and is very centrally located 27.2km from Dorrigo, 87.4km from Grafton and 109.7km from Armidale.
When you arrive and start your trip down the driveway you literally leave the rest of the world behind and enter your own personal paradise. As you emerge from the forested drive you will find this verdant green oasis welcoming you with a large central courtyard that beckons you to explore further.
Stepping through the front door, enjoy the high ceilings throughout and savour the misty mountain views all around you. The entry hall/breezeway is almost 3m wide and provides access to the open plan living/kitchen area to your left.
The sumptuous kitchen comes complete with Rayburn wood burning stove for cooking and heating plus loads of bench, cupboard, and drawer space, walk in pantry, 4 burner gas cook top, double ceramic sink, amazing views and another set of French doors to the covered verandah.
Turning right from the entry hall/ breezeway brings us to the drop dead gorgeous main bedroom suite. The bedroom is approximately 6 x 5 m with slow combustion log fire and 2 sets of French doors onto the covered verandah, where you will find the stand alone 2 person spa with panoramic views. The dressing room/walk in robe is approximately 6 x 2.5m with loads of hanging and cupboard space while the luxurious ensuite bathroom (5 x 3m) offers double timber vanity, separate bath, huge shower, dual flush toilet and bidet. The whole bedroom suite enjoys delightful views from very window.
Down the hall we find 3 sets of double door storage cupboards as we move towards bedrooms 2 (4x4m) and 3 (3x4m) both with built in wardrobes and lovely views. You will also find the main bathroom with another double timber vanity, large shower recess and dual flush toilet with beautiful forest views.
Bedroom 4 (4x4m) is accessed from the open plan living/kitchen area and since it could also make a great study/office area, it doesn't have a built in wardrobe although there is plenty of space to ad one if you desire.
Downstairs you will find 224 m2 of fire proof space with 4 separate rooms, kitchenette and bathroom. The wine cellar potential here is enormous and you could easily set up an impressive home entertainment area as well.
Everything about this property oozes quality, including the 15 x 20m shed close to the house, the stand alone solar system, the 20,000 gallon rain water system, the submissible pump driven, mountain spring water on tap and the backup generator.
The solar array, 2 x solar HWS, generator, and gas HWS mean you will NEVER GET A BILL for power or hot water.......you'd have to be happy about that!!
You'll quite likely love the handcrafted stone cottage, built by local artisan 'Stoney Duncan' which provides a totally self contained area with timber kitchen, slow combustion wood heater and stove, shower, and loft bedroom adjoining a large (8x7m) covered patio area featuring your very own pizza oven and stone retaining wall.
Well I've almost run out of space to tell you about the many facets of this property so let's not forget the hidden paddock of prime pasture already set up with self contained shed (15x 15m), water system, power, heating, veggie garden and orchard.
Cedar log creek runs through this property and provides your own private waterfall and swimming hole as well as fishing and water supply, whilst also alluding to the rich Cedar forest that once adorned this plateau. The good news is that there are hundreds and hundreds of naturally seeded red cedars regrowing on the property and well worth protecting and cherishing.
There is so much here to discover about this property.....endless bushwalks, abundant birds and wildlife, incredible sunrises and sunsets, the list goes on....
Could it be that you are the next caretaker for this rare real estate? To protect and enjoy for years to come?
Call to view at a time that suits you.
Please note - all measurements are approximate and floor plan available on request.

IgersMelbourne - Kyneton Lost Trades Fair
Apologies for the lateness of this vid again (but getting through them now) this was from our March instameet from 2018 when a small group made the track out to the Kyneton Racetrack for their 'Lost Trades Fair'
It was such a cool idea from Sharon, out to see the lost races... imagine Blacksmiths and old fashioned Locksmiths, wooden toymakers and old methods of spinning wool and Armorers, Punch and Judy shows and I have seriously never seen so many Organ Grinders in one place!
The sun was high and warm.. and it was pretty awesome. One thing we weren't prepared for was the fact there was ZERO reception... we split up and quickly lost track of everyone... I barely saw anyone all day! Until we met at the next location for a drink and a feed.
I really want to go back next time it is on... but will stay with a group next time!
