A 45 minute drive Northwest of Melbourne City Centre It includes the towns of Clarkefield, Gisborne South, Gisborne, Kyneton, Lancefield, Macedon, Malmsbury, Mount Macedon, New Gisborne, Riddells Creek, Romsey and Woodend. It is governed and administered by the Macedon Ranges Shire Council.

1. Hanging Rock Reserve Woodend
Hanging Rock is a distinctive geological formation in central Victoria, Australia. A former volcano, it lies 718m above sea level on the plain between the two small townships of Newham and Hesket, approximately 70 km north-west of Melbourne and a few kilometres north of Mount Macedon. In the middle of the 19th century, the traditional occupants of the place – tribes of the Dja Dja Wurrung, Woi Wurrung and Taungurung – were forced from it. They had been its occupants for, potentially, thousands of years and, colonisation notwithstanding, have continued to maintain cultural and spiritual connections with the place.To the settler colonialist society, Hanging Rock became a place for recreation and tourism. The Malmsbury Viaduct is a large brick and stone masonry arch bridge over the Coliban River at Malmsbury on the Bendigo Railway in Victoria Australia. It was erected as part of the Melbourne, Mount Alexander and Murray River Railway between 1858 and 1861, and was at the time the largest masonry arch railway bridge built in Victoria. We have stoped at The Memorial Cross and later continued to Hanging Rock where unfortunately it was getting too late for the whole Days walk so we decided to head again to Forest Glade Gardens situated in lovely country Victoria Mt.macedon National Park Ranges Its definitely a must see tourist destination with lots of scenic walks and things to learn about local History
