Exploring Worthington Glacier In Valdez, Alaska
Sarah and I have been to Worthington Glacier in the past, but as we say our final goodbyes to Alaska wanted to stop by one more time and show the parents. The glacier was nothing short of amazing and a ton of laughs were had with the family. This was just one of the adventures we had in Valdez, and we have so many more to share before we leave Alaska. Stay tuned as we share more behind our life on the road and our setup as well as more adventures. #Worthingtonglacier #Familytime #Alaska

Worthington Glacier Hike - Northern Ridge (Right Side), Valdez, Alaska
This video is NOT of the Worthington Glacier Ridge Trail which is a steep marked trail to the left, this video, which has both pictures and embedded videos, is of a very aggressive hike that follows up Worthington Glacier along the northern ridge (Right side when looking straight at the Glacier), it uses cables to cross the water and then climbs up to the top of the glacier with no trail markings.
Use extreme caution if you decide to go up the right side using the cables!! This hike had some difficult sections and I would highly recommend a buddy system.
Worthington Glacier State Recreational Site is near Thompson Pass, 28 miles northeast of Valdez on the Richardson Highway.
This site is now operated by Valdez Adventure Alliance, previously known as Levitation 49 according to Alaska Department of Natural Resources - Division of Parks & Outdoor Recreation web page.

WATCH FROM THE BEGINNING |
We live in a 33 foot fifth wheel tiny home camper that we are currently traveling the USA in! It is an alternative lifestyle we find that it brings us the most freedom. Living in a RV full time was never something we planned to do. Instead we jumped right into it. In a matter of 30 days. We bought a RV and the following day bought a truck to tow with!

Worthington Glacier Area - near Valdez, AK
This is an area near Worthington Glacier State Recreation Site and is located inside of Thompson Pass, while I would have loved to fly and film up close to the glacier, this was just not possible.
I do highly recommend the glacier viewing platforms inside the Worthington Glacier State Recreation Site and consider it a can't miss stop along the Richardson Highway.
According to the National Park Service ... Worthington Glacier State Recreation Site is one of the most road accessible glaciers in Alaska. Visitors can park their vehicle nearby and then walk close to the face of the glacier. It was designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1968, and is 5,744 acres large.

설명
Alaska 2018 - 25 [hiking the Worthington Glacier and a travel day]
If you go to Valdez, Alaska, plan to hike Worthington Glacier when you pass by. There’s plenty of room to park an RV in the lot, even our motorhomes with tow vehicles. Both of us. (See more photos and info on our blog post:
It’s a short hike and you can get pretty close to the glacier, but don’t get too close! Rocks and ice fall off of it all the time. Someone was killed a few weeks before we visited. So keep a safe distance!
The views here are worth the stop for sure. The glacier is beautiful but so is the surrounding countryside.
Wildlife sighting
We saw a moose in a lake! I had to freeze the video so you could see him too.
Travel day
Enjoy the drive as we head in the direction of Anchorage on the Richardson Highway and the Glenn Highway.

Now, in earnest, we try to experience the wilderness and wilderness of Alaska and head for the port city of Baldys, which is five hours away from Anchorage. I passed the coast road, people were taking pictures so hard I stopped the car. White animals are grazing. As you can see, it is a goat. Goats go freely on steep rocky mountains. The little goat born this spring has begun to grow horns little by little. To go to Valdis, you have to pass the high hill called Thompson Pass. Here, you can see the magnificent mountains covered in snow, and travelers are bound to stop. In June, wild flowers bloom and beautifully decorate the mountains. At the top of Thompson Pass Hill is the Wading Glacier, a land glacier. It is the first glacier in Alaska. I went up to the Worthington Glacier. When you go up about 30 minutes, the snow field starts to come out. At first glance, it looks like snow on top of the mountain. But the blue, rugged surface tells us that this is a glacier. The glacier was bigger than I thought. It stretches far from the top of the mountain, and the area is said to be three times closer than Yeouido. Melted water flows down from the glacier and forms a waterfall. These waters flow into the river, into the sea. I immersed my hands in the glacier melted water, and it is so cold that I can not bear it for only 5 seconds.

Ice Cave Near Columbia Glacier, Valdez, Alaska
I thought we were going into a regular rock cave, the moment I realized it was an ice cave I got so excited that I missed my step and stepped into a patch of thick glacial sludge and lost my boot.
Worthington Glacier Hike
My family and I took a road trip from Fairbanks, AK to Valdez, AK during the summer of 2014. Along the way we visited Worthington Glacier located in the mountains on the outskirts of Valdez. We hiked up to the face of the glacier. Some more adventurous folks hiked up onto the glacier. Enjoy the video!
