Friends of Huddart & Wunderlich Parks
huddartwunderlichfriends.org
The Friends of Huddart & Wunderlich Parks dedicated to preserving the environment and historic legacies of two exceptional parks in Woodside, California. We encourage environmental awareness and provide educational opportunities for children and adults while promoting enjoyment and conservation of our parks.
Watch this video that highlights some of the work we do:
• The Huddart Park Nature Hikes program serves more than 800 kindergarten and 1st grade students each year, many of them from underserved communities. This outdoor science field trip helps connect young children to nature through an innovative standards based curriculum.
• In Wunderlich Park, the Friends led the effort to save and restore the Folger Estate Stable, an historic landmark. After the restoration, the Friends established and now operate the Folger Estate Stable Museum, which is free and open to the public. More than 2,500 people a year visit the estate to learn about the history of our local landscape and the importance of conserving and protecting our resources.
• Our Folger School program serves 900 3rd graders each year with a California history field trip to learn about the local area through engaging hands-on activities.
• Our Folger Stable Speaker Series engages the community and attracts visitors to our parks by bringing experts to speak about diverse topics such as the inspiration local artists get from nature, the amazing biodiversity of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary, and the contributions of Chinese laborers in California after the transcontinental railroad was completed.
• The Friends also host park clean up days and fundraisers, provide guided historical and hiking tours, and assist organizations like the Parent Involvement Project and Girls Scouts to introduce families to the parks.

Just the occasional hiker and maybe a stroller or two. The trails are immaculate and well marked. There are several group picnic sites that can be used as lunch stops. Chickadee Nature Trail - wheelchair accessible
Chickadee Nature Trail located in Huddart County Park, Woodside, CA.
It's an all-access trail 3/4 mile loop trail. At the time, May 2011, toward the end of the left side of the trail loop, a wooden post blocked the trail due to some damage to a bridge. A ways down on the right side of the loop trail, a fallen tree blocked the trail. Overall though, it's a great trail for wheelchairs.

The Monterey Bay Equestrians decided to venture north to new trails in San Mateo County to Huddart County Park in Woodside. I've never seen a Gypsy Vanner out riding trail, but Splash and her rider took the lead and did awesome! Pepper was fine in the middle as she was a bit on edge.
