SRF40- YASS TOWN BRANCH 24-2-1989
A video look at the closed branchline from Yass Junction to Yass Town on the 24th of February 1989, followed by still images of the line today.
At the time, it was only around four months since the last trains ran, these being shuttles with double headed steam engines from Canberra.
While a museum has been set up at the Yass Town station, to date plans to operate a tourist railway have been an unreachable goal.
After a look at the line, we get to view two freight trains from back when the 81 class still ruled the south.
As always, the quality leaves a lot to be desired. However, I do hope you will endure that and enjoy the video.

Yass CountryLink station
Opened on July 3, 1876, Yass Junction station is located on the Main South Line, which runs from Sydney to Albury. It also served as one terminus of the Yass branch line, which ran to the Yass station (Opened in 1892, closed 1958, now a museum). Yass Junction is served by multiple North and Southbound XPT passenger trains daily, though only one of the three platforms is still used for passenger services.

Yass Tram filmed by Jim Powell .wmv
AN OLD 8MM FILM from the late Jim Powell, a New South wales railway historian.
Jim was a pioneer in the early days well before video and DVD producing and selling 8mm films on railways and tramways. This is one such film. Jim was a gentelman to deal with and I do hope I'm not upsetting anyone by uploading his film. So I dedicate this upload to the Late Jim Powell........A true rail historian.......This is his work...

Wondabyne Request Stop 22/7/19
Wondabyne is a tiny station between Hawkesbury River and Woy Woy on the Central Coast & Newcastle line, New South Wales, Australia. Trains stop here by request only - to alight here you have to notify the guard at a previous stop, who then informs the driver of your intention. To board a train, intending passengers must signal the driver with a raised hand. The platforms are less than one car long, and trains stop with the rear door only available to passengers. Wondabyne is uniquely located in a remote part of the Brisbane Water National Park on the bank of Mullet Creek - a tributary of the Hawkesbury River. It is accessible only by rail, boat or hiking track. A small number of private residences exist in the area, most of them on the opposite bank. The station provides an excellent starting point for a number of hikes, easily done as a day trip from Sydney. Check out my video of Zig Zag, another NSW request stop, here:
