Climbing Mt Fuji for Sunrise - Yoshida trail 후지산 일출
Watching a Sunrise at the Top of Mt fuji was unforgettable experience.
Only 5.6 km ( 3.5 miles ) to the top but 1500m ( 5000 ft ) elevation gain make me breathless as soon as I start hiking.
Getting a stamp at each station was also a unique experience.
Slow and steady was a good way to fight the altitude sickness.

Only a fool climes it twice'

Climbing Mount Fuji in Japan
One of our main goals for going to Japan was climbing Mt.Fuji. This was realatively easy hike because it is possible to do in one day without big backpacks. So we did it. 5h up, and 2.5h down.
About Mount Fuji (富士山, Fujisan):
Is with 3776 meters Japan's highest mountain. It is not surprising that the nearly perfectly shaped volcano has been worshiped as a sacred mountain and experienced big popularity among artists and common people throughout the centuries.
Mount Fuji is an active volcano, which most recently erupted in 1708. It stands on the border between Yamanashi and Shizuoka Prefectures and can be seen from Tokyo and Yokohama on clear days.
Another easy way to view Mount Fuji is from the train on a trip between Tokyo and Osaka. If you take the shinkansen from Tokyo in direction of Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka, the best view of the mountain can be enjoyed from around Shin-Fuji Station on the right hand side of the train, about 40-45 minutes into the journey.
Note however, that clouds and poor visibility often block the view of Mount Fuji, and you have to consider yourself lucky if you get a clear view of the mountain. Visibility tends to be better during the colder seasons of the year than in summer, and in the early morning and late evening hours than during the middle of the day.
If you want to enjoy Mount Fuji at a more leisurely pace and from a nice natural surrounding, you should head to the Fuji Five Lake (Fujigoko) region at the northern foot of the mountain, or to Hakone, a nearby hot spring resort. Mount Fuji is officially open for climbing during July and August via several routes.
Mount Fuji is a symbol of Japan. The mountain contributes to Japan's physical, cultural, and spiritual geography.
Fujiyoshida, Japan to see Mt Fuji!
We knew it would be a risk to try to see Mt Fuji but we knew we had to try since we were in Japan. I fell in love with the pictures of the Chureito Pagoda so we added Fujiyoshida to our already-too-packed itinerary. So glad we did, because it was such a small town there was little to do other than eat, relax and catch views of Mt. Fuji. #perfect

Mt. Fuji Japan - GoPro HD
We went to Mt. Fuji in Japan on Oct 4th, 2013. This is just after the off season, but the weather was great and it was safe to climb. There was barely anyone on the mountain with us. I think we saw 2 other people.
We started at the 5th station at 8:00 am and climbed to the top of Mt. Fuji. We took the Yoshida Trail. After the 8 station, the air gets thin and it is a lot harder to climb. It is an odd and awesome feeling.
Around the 6th station we found a snowboard. I thought it was a good idea to carry it to the top of Mt. Fuji and try to snowboard down. I failed miserably :)
We took a bus from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal in Tokyo to Mt. Fuji 5th station. You can make bus reservations here:
We also stayed at a hostel near Mt. Fuji called K’s House:

【Hiking in Japan】Climbing Mount Ōyama Day Trip from Tokyo
【Hiking in Japan】Climbing Mount Ōyama Day Trip from Tokyo
Day trip outside Tokyo Hiking Mount Oyama in Kanagawa Tanzawa-Ōyama Quasi-National Park. Mt Oyama is perfect for a road trip or day hike to the mountains in Japan. Hiking in Japan is rewarding be it solo hiking of family friendly hikes you will never forget these adventures. Go hiking in and around Tokyo! Better than always being stuck in the city.
A truly great mountain for beginners.
Mount Ōyama has long been regarded as a holy mountain and object of worship. Religiously motivated mountain climbing has been practiced since the Hōreki era (1751–1764) and the various paths leading there were called Ōyama Kaidō (大山街道 Ōyama Kaidō). Today this name survives as the pseudonym of Route 246.
At the top of the mountain is the head office of the Ōyama-Afuri Shrine (大山阿夫利神社 Ō-yama-afuri Jinja). Lower down the mountain is the lower shrine and the Ōyama-dera (大山寺). Afuri refers to the high amount of rain and clouds associated with the mountain. Farmers pray at Ōyama-Afuri Shrine to the rain god.

Mt.Fuji ascent in Japan, the 4 seasons (Ascenso al monte Fuji en Japón) Gotemba route 富士山 登山 四季
Climbing Mount Fuji, the 4 seasons. Japanese archipelago covers several climatic zones and it's location between the Asian continent and the Pacific ocean cause dramatic differences in the weather: cold, dry winters and hot, humid summers. As a result of moisture-laden clouds under the influence of cold winds blowing from Siberia, Japan includes some of the world's snowiest points. Mt. Fuji official climbing season is usually between July and September (Depending on the trail: Gotemba trail, Yoshida Trail, etc). Temperature at Mt.Fuji's peak oscillates between -25 °C in winter (wind chills of -35°C and a record of -38°C on February 1981), -15 °C in spring (March-April) and 5 to 7°C in summer. Mt.Fuji is characterized by the strong hurricane winds (of more than 20 m/s) occurring 121 days each year ( (in japanese).

Kinryu Falls [Otake, Hiroshima Prefecture] 錦龍公園(きんりゅうこうえん)
Only a short drive from Kuba Station you will find a great park located in Otake City, Hiroshima Prefecture. This park known as Kinryu Koen or 錦竜公園 is located in the mountains of Otake and can be a great place to enjoy some outdoor fun!
Access to the park itself is relatively easy to access if you have a small vehicle, however larger vehicles may struggle on the narrow roads leading through the mountains towards the small parking area [34.253450, 132.210484].
Although there is very limited space you can park along the side of the road in the gravel/grassy area to the left. Once parked you can begin your adventure. You are likely to notice a sign, which is rather worn, and two main paths. One path leads to the left and the other leads towards the right where you will also see a bright red bridge. If your goal is to find this waterfall continue towards the red bridge on the right.
Follow the path until you find the waterfall [34.257604, 132.210637]. Just before the waterfall you will see a sign that points up a path to the right (it is rather steep and you can't miss it) as well as a path that that leads towards the water. Continue to wards the water if you would like to experience the falls.
Although the path to this location is described as well paved it is really only so for the first 3/4 of the journey. Past that location the path becomes rocky and much more difficult. THIS IS NOT A STROLLER FRIENDLY LOCATION. This is also not a location good for children to walk freely as there are steep drop-offs offering no protection for wandering children.
Although this is a park you will not find the comforts of a standard park in this area. There are no toilets. There are no vending machines. It is highly recommended that you bring your own water and anything else you may need for a short hike.
The waterfall is also rather popular and therefore you can find a great deal of children playing and adults soaking up the sun. This is not a quiet location.

Hokusai, Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji
Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (富嶽三十六景, Fugaku Sanjūrokkei) is an ukiyo-e (浮世絵, pictures of the floating world) series of large, colour woodblock prints created between 1826 and 1833 by the Japanese master of the brush and skilled draftsman, Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849). This series marked the beginning of Hokusai's courtship of the great mountain regarded as the source of the secret of immortality, and his effort to capture Fuji from a variety of different places and distances, in different seasons, weather conditions and telling context. The first 36 were included in the original publication and, due to their popularity, ten more were added after the original publication.
Hokusai drew each of the images on paper, or, more precisely, onto washi, the Japanese paper, and then he glued them onto a plank of wood, usually cherry wood, using the outlines given by the drawings for cutting the wood block. Hokusai followed the Nishiki-e (錦絵, brocade pictures) method of using multiple blocks for separate portions of the image, allowing him to use a wide range of colours, and to achieve incredibly complex and detailed images.
All images are faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art that are in the public domain.

Music: Etenraku, performed by The Kyoto Imperial Court Music Orchestra of Japan, is a Gagaku (雅楽, elegant, correct, or refined music) style, Hyojo mode, piece. Gagaku is the traditional court music of Japan. It consists of three primary bodies: Saibara, Komagaku, and Togaku. When the music is played alone it is called Kangen, and when accompanied with a dance it is called Bugaku. It has been played since the sixth century, and is Japan's oldest orchestral art music. It is the music played whenever an important member of the royal class makes an entrance, and is rarely performed in public. But, I think that all classes must be abolished, so here it is dedicated to Mount Fuji, Katsushika Hokusai and his works, and YOU ALL!
All I have produced before the age of seventy is not worth taking into account. At seventy-three I have learned a little about the real structure of nature, of animals, plants, trees, birds, fishes and insects. In consequence when I am eighty, I shall have made still more progress. At ninety I shall penetrate the mystery of things; at one hundred I shall certainly have reached a marvelous stage; and when I am a hundred and ten, everything I do, be it a dot or a line, will be alive. I beg those who live as long as I to see if I do not keep my word. Written at the age of seventy five by me, once Hokusai, today Gwakyo Rojin, the old man mad about drawing.
