Japan Travel: Viewing Sakura (Cherry Blossom) from the Ropeway at Yoshinoyama Shimo Senbo, Nara 49
Japan Travel: Viewing Sakura (Cherry Blossom) from the Ropeway at Yoshinoyama Shimo Senbo, Nara 49
Mount Yoshino (吉野山) located in Nara Prefecture, is a popular spot for cherry blossom (sakura) viewing. Famous throughout Japan, it is said the trees were planted here on the slopes of Mount Yoshino over 1300 years ago. The mountain is covered with around 30,000 cherry trees of different varieties; thought the Yamazakura version is common.
Yoshinoyama’s slope faces the north. It is divided into four areas:
Shimo Senbon—meaning lower 1000 trees; located at the base of the mountain
Naka Senbon—meaning middle 1000 trees; located in the middle of the mountain
Kami Senbon—meaning upper 1000 trees; located at the top of the mountain
Oku Senbon—meaning inner 1000 trees; located deep within the mountain
Visitors have the opportunity to view the various cherry blossoms as they travel through the mountains as well as experience Yoshino Town with its various temples and shrines.
Visitors will find the Shimo Senbon area of Mount Yoshino at the base of the mountain around Yoshino Station. The lower part of Yoshino town is located here as well. Visitors will find the Yoshino Ropeway station in Shimo Senbon. Many visitors choose to use the Yoshino Ropeway to view the mountain sakura (cherry blossoms). However, due to the popularity of Mount Yoshino’s cherry blossoms, the wait time for the ropeway can be quite long during the cherry blossom season. There are many cherry trees along the mountain trial for those who prefer this healthy, attractive alternative to the ropeway.

Tsukiji Hongan-ji (築地本願寺), sometimes archaically romanized Hongwan-ji, is a Jodo Shinshu Buddhist temple located in the Tsukiji district of Tokyo, Japan.
Tsukiji Hongan-ji's predecessor was the temple of Edo-Asakusa Gobo (江戸浅草御坊), built in Asakusa in 1617 at the behest of the 12th monshu, Junnyo Shōnin.
The temple burned during a city-wide fire in 1657, and the shogunate refused to allow it to be rebuilt in Asakusa due to a prior project there. Instead, the temple was moved to a new parcel of land being reclaimed by the Sumida River—today's Tsukiji. This land was said to have been reclaimed by Jodo Shinshu followers themselves who lived at nearby Tsukudajima. The name Tsukiji comes from the kanji characters meaning reclaimed land. This new temple, named Tsukiji Gobo (築地御坊), stood until it was leveled by the Great Kantō earthquake of 1923. (Quoted from wikipedia

Bon Odori, meaning simply Bon dance is a style of dancing performed during Obon. Originally a Nenbutsu folk dance to welcome the spirits of the dead, the style of celebration varies in many aspects from region to region. Each region has a local dance, as well as different music. The music can be songs specifically pertinent to the spiritual message of Obon, or local min'yo folk songs. Consequently, the Bon dance will look and sound different from region to region. Hokkaidō is known for a folk-song known as Soran Bushi. The song Tokyo Ondo takes its namesake from the capital of Japan. Gujo Odori in Gujō, Gifu prefecture is famous for all night dancing. Gōshū Ondo is a folk song from Shiga prefecture. Residents of the Kansai area will recognize the famous Kawachi ondo. Tokushima in Shikoku is very famous for its Awa Odori, or fool's dance, and in the far south, one can hear the Ohara Bushi of Kagoshima.(Quoted from wikipedia

Ueno Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ueno Park (上野公園 Ueno Kōen) is a spacious public park in the Ueno district of Taitō, Tokyo, Japan. The park was established in 1873 on lands formerly belonging to the temple of Kan'ei-ji. Amongst the country's first public parks, it was founded following the western example as part of the borrowing and assimilation of international practices that characterizes the early Meiji period. The home of a number of major museums, Ueno Park is also celebrated in spring for its cherry blossoms and hanami. In recent times the park and its attractions have drawn over ten million visitors a year, making it Japan's most popular city park.

☆Bits of knowledge〜Matsumoto castle〜
Matsumoto Castle (松本城, Matsumotojō) is one of the most complete and beautiful among Japan's original castles. It is a hirajiro - a castle built on plains rather than on a hill or mountain. Matsumoto Castle is unique for having both a secondary donjon and a turret adjoined to its main keep. The castle structures, in combination with their characteristic black wainscoting, give off an air of grandeur and poise.
Matsumotojo's main castle keep and its smaller, second donjon were built from 1592 to 1614. Both these structures were well-fortified as peace was not yet fully achieved at the time. In 1635, when military threats had ceased, a third, barely defended turret and another for moon viewing were added to the castle.
