Panama Canal Cruise - Day 7 Limon Costa Rica
We didn’t know exactly what to expect when we found out that our Caribbean Princess cruise was stopping in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. We researched our tours carefully and settled on Your Lucky Tour. Eduardo, the owner, walked us through the process of finding the right experience for our party. We ultimately chose a tour to Cahuita National Park, with stops at the Tortugero Canal, a fruit stand, and a private home where we got to pet a baby sloth. This tour was appealing because it combined some of the common sights in Puerto Limon, with the off the beaten path trip to Cahuita. Cahuita was quintessential Costa Rica- jungle meets beach, wildlife, and warm locals. My Mom loved this day, and the personal service and great price made it super memorable. If you're taking a cruise to Limón Costa Rica contact Eduardo, he does a great job providing excursions. We did the Combo Tour listed on his website but he has a great personality and I would imagine all of his tours and tour guides are great!
Our tour included the zipline at Jungle Breeze, stop at a local fruit stand, visit to Del Monte plantation, boat ride up the river / canal and a stop at local restaurant with great view of the city.

Puerto Limón, Costa Rica ???????? - Caribbean Cruise Port of Call
A visit to Puerto Limón in Costa Rica - a beautiful, lush Central American country with stunning tropical scenery everywhere you look ????
Puerto Limón in Costa Rica was our fourth stop on our 11 night Caribbean cruise aboard the MSC Divina from Miami.
The area around the port of Limón is amazingly beautiful and it offers a great opportunity to see one of the most bio-diverse countries in the world.
While in Limón, we visited a banana plantation to see how the fruit is grown and cultivated. It was a wonderful experience and the people working there were so welcoming and friendly.
We were lucky enough to spot a sloth high in the trees, lazily enjoying the heat of the rainforest. If you stop here on your cruise, be sure to get out of the port and see some nature!
Costa Rica is a beautiful, lush, tropical country with stunning scenery, unrivalled biodiversity and friendly people.

Cahuita's beaches, town, and flavor - Costa Rica
Hey friends!
This video is the end of our Cahuita series. In this video I show you the town of Cahuita the beaches, a little bit of the nightlife, and I recommend my favorite places to stay. This little reggae town is one of my favorite places in the world for it's small size, beautiful beaches, lovely food and people, and wildlife. As one expat who lives there said, Why would I leave? I live in paradise. A definite must see if you are into the relaxing side of visiting the country. Don't miss my other videos of Cahuita: the National Park, snorkeling, and cooking at Miss Edith's authentic Caribbean restaurant!

Guy rescued by USCG Cutter Gallatin crew after falling off pier in Costa Rica
I was on the balcony of our cruise ship in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica on March 26, 2012, looking for my husband on the pier, when I heard Man Overboard from someone on the US Coast Guard Cutter Gallatin (721) which was docked across from our ship (HAL Zuiderdam). Somebody from our cruise ship had fallen in the water between the pier and the Coast Guard ship. I grabbed my camera and started taking photos while I frantically looked for my husband, who I feared had fallen in. After he came onto our balcony, I grabbed the video camera for the rest of the rescue while he continued taking photos. Here are some of the photos and video of the rescue. Kudos to the Coast Guard crew and the crew of the Zuiderdam who acted quickly. The guy fell in about 20 or so feet from where he finally ended up before he climbed up a ladder from the water below. The cruise ship sent medical aid and a stretcher out, but the lucky fellow was able to walk back to the Zuiderdam unaided.

THE MONSTER OF MR COGITO
1
Lucky Saint George
from his knight's saddle
could exactly evaluate
the strength and movements of the dragon
the first principle of strategy
is to assess the enemy accurately
Mr Cogito
is in a worse position
he sits in the low
saddle of a valley
covered with thick fog
through fog it is impossible to perceive
fiery eyes
greedy claws
jaws
through fog
one sees only
the shimmering of nothingness
the monster of Mr Cogito
has no measurements
it is difficult to describe
escapes definition
it is like an immense depression
spread out over the country
it can't be pierced
with a pen
with an argument
or spear
were it not for its suffocating weight
and the death it sends down
one would think
it is the hallucination
of a sick imagination
but it exists
for certain it exists
like carbon monoxide it fills
houses temples markets
poisons wells
destroys the structures of the mind
covers bread with mould
the proof of the existence of the monster
is its victims
it is not direct proof
but sufficient
2
reasonable people say
we can live together
with the monster
we only have to avoid
sudden movements
sudden speech
if there is a threat assume
the form of a rock or a leaf
listen to wise Nature
recommending mimicry
that we breathe shallowly
pretend we aren't there
Mr Cogito however
does not want a life of make-believe
he would like to fight
with the monster
on firm ground
so he walks out at dawn
into a sleepy suburb
carefully equipped
with a long sharp object
he calls to the monster
on the empty streets
he offends the monster
provokes the monster
like a bold skirmisher
of an army that doesn't exist
he calls -
come out contemptible coward
through the fog
one sees only
the huge snout of nothingness
Mr Cogito wants to enter
the uneven battle
it ought to happen
possibly soon
before there is
a fall from inertia
an ordinary death without glory
suffocation from formlessness
COSTA RICA 2 UP ON A BMW MOTORCYCLE ADVENTURE
From the Caribbean to the Pacific
As you’ll see in the video, we continue to travel long the coastlines, this time in Costa Rica alternating between the Atlantic and the Pacific. The legacy of Bob Marley has left a huge influence of reggae music throughout Costa Rica especially on the Atlantic coast (Caribbean) and especially in Puerto Viejo where on weekends locals come together, listen to music, play baseball, and smoke weed!
Costa Rica has miles of coast line and numerous islands much of which are inhabited by green turtles during the months of July-August when they come to lay their eggs. We were lucky to be here in August and get a unique opportunity to view this amazing event. It is forbidden to film or take pictures of the turtles in the evening while they lay their eggs but should one get up at 4.30am (just on daylight) it is possible to record the final stages when she is covering her eggs and getting ready to return to the water. The eggs take 2-3 weeks to form inside the female. Turtles make a very long journey with many obstacles along the beach to find the perfect place to lay her eggs. In the video you will see the large number of tracks which have been left by the turtles during the night. The turtles dig a hole between 40 cm to 60 cm in diameter and then deposit between 50 to 100 eggs.
The nest temperature determines the sex of the turtles. The incubation may last from 40 to 70 days. The eggs face dangers from dogs, high tides, eggs dealers, tourists umbrellas and kids making sand castles. Of each 100 eggs only a maximum of 4 survive.
Quite fascinating really!

Sloth delivers a baby in the wild / La Kukula Lodge / Costa Rica / 5 of 6
A Sloth was born on October 10, 2014 at 13.09 pm in front of La Kukula Lodge, Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. We were so lucky to see all the process and to shoot it with a smartphone. Mother and baby seemed to be OK.
This footage, part 5 of 6, shows how the mother holds the baby with one hand and watches it. The baby makes its first sounds, probably meaning it is fine and alive. This moment was exactly 6 minutes after the baby was delivered and still is tight to its mother with the navel string.
