Calculated Traveller - Yours Outdoors Snowshoeing Tour - Halliburton Ontario
To read the full article that describes my experience this video visit Calculated Traveller Magazine
Ahh… walking through the woods in Haliburton Ontario, with the snow lightly falling overhead, the crunch of the snow underfoot and the only sound that you can hear is the rushing of the river and the sound of my snow pants.
This was what it was like when I had my first ever winter snowshoeing experience at the Minden Wild Water Preserve on the Yours Outdoors Snowshoeing Tour in the beautiful Haliburton Highlands of Ontario.
See for yourself in this video taken during our walk…

15 Days of Winter: Day 10 at Pinestone Resort Trails
On Day 10 of #15DaysOfWinter we sat down with John Teljeur to learn more about the Pinestone Resort Trails. The current trail system consists of 6 km of classic & skate trails on the Pinestone Resort golf course and another 7 km through the Willow Beach / Ironwood loop. It's perfect for all levels of skiers. Pinestone Resort and Conference Centre features so many activities year round in the Haliburton Highlands and we were delighted to sit down and hear a bit more about just one of these many facets. Has anyone been on the trails? Have you checked out the view from Lookout Point, or had a wild adventure down Suicide Hill? We would love to see your pictures!

Bon Echo Provincial Park is a provincial park in South Central Ontario north of Kaladar, Ontario, approximately 6 km north of Cloyne.
Bon Echo features several lakes, including part of Mazinaw Lake, the second-deepest lake in Ontario. The southeastern shore of Mazinaw Lake features the massive 100 m high Mazinaw Rock, an escarpment rising out of the water with many native pictographs. The unofficial mascot of Bon Echo Park is the Ojibwe trickster figure and culture hero, Nanabush, who is among the pictographs found in the area. Pictographs are often confused with petroglyphs, which are rock carvings rather than the over 260 rock paintings found on Mazinaw.
Webster's Falls is a curtain waterfall 22 metres in height. Located at the Spencer Gorge / Webster's Falls Conservation area in Greensville, its source is Spencer Creek. It is one of two falls within the Spencer Gorge, and with a crest of 24 metres, it is the largest in the region. It is also probably the most popular and widely known fall in Hamilton, and has the biggest park associated with a waterfall.
Tews Falls is a ribbon waterfall 41 metres in height, making it the tallest in Hamilton. Located at the Spencer Gorge / Webster's Falls Conservation Area in Greensville, its source is Logie's Creek.
Awenda Provincial Park is a provincial park in western Ontario located on the northern tip of the Penetanguishene Peninsula on Georgian Bay. The park occupies an area of 29.15 square kilometres (11.25 sq mi). It is classified as a Natural Environment Park and therefore all land is protected.
Much of this area was logged around the beginning of the 20th century, so most of the forests here are second growth. However, the park supports a rich variety of plant and animal life. The park is home to 32 species of amphibians and reptiles.
The Pinery Provincial Park is a park located on Lake Huron near Grand Bend, Ontario. It occupies an area of 25.32 square kilometres (6,330 acres).
The park features the largest area of Oak Savanna in Ontario. To preserve this habitat, a population control program for White-tailed Deer has been implemented. During the early 1960s, because the value of the native savanna was not recognized, large numbers of Red and White pine trees were planted in the park, displacing the native vegetation. That is also how the park got its name.
Bruce Peninsula National Park is a national park on the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada. Located on a part of the Niagara Escarpment, the park comprises 156 square kilometres and is one of the largest protected areas in southern Ontario, forming the core of UNESCO's Niagara Escarpment World Biosphere Reserve. The park offers opportunities for many outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, and bird watching. The park has trails ranging in difficulty from easy to expert, and connects to the Bruce Trail.
Everyone hikes to the Grotto. It's the most popular attraction in Bruce Peninsula National Park. A big cave on the shore, it was carved out by the waves of Georgian Bay over thousands of years. From the Bruce Trail climb down through the natural chimney in the rock of the Niagara Escarpment. It's a pristine setting; there are no signs, lights, stairs or handrails here. The cave itself is stunning, with sunlight from the outside revealing a brilliant underwater tunnel on the inside. You can walk along a ledge inside its cavity or swim in its cool, clear, turquoise water.
Sauble Falls Provincial Park is located in the community of Sauble Falls, town of South Bruce Peninsula, Bruce County in southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is in the lower drainage basin of the Sauble River, which flows into Lake Huron. is also the downstream terminus of the Rankin River canoe route
Fathom Five National Marine Park is a National Marine Conservation Area in the Georgian Bay part of Lake Huron, Ontario, Canada, that seeks to protect and display shipwrecks and lighthouses, and conserve freshwater ecosystems. The many shipwrecks make the park a popular scuba diving destination, and glass bottom boat tours leave Tobermory regularly, allowing tourists to see the shipwrecks without having to get wet. Many visitors camp at nearby Bruce Peninsula National Park and use the park as a base to explore Fathom Five and the surrounding area during the day.
Fathom Five also contains numerous islands, notably Flowerpot Island, which has rough camping facilities, marked trails, and its namesake flowerpots, outlying stacks of escarpment cliff that stand a short distance from the island, most with vegetation (including trees) still growing on them.

ATV World Park to Park and EOTA
Everyone knows Ontario is home to hundreds of miles of amazing ATV trails, ranging all over the wild and varied landscape of the Canadian Shield. But most touring ATVers have also lamented the 40+ ATV trail passes that are required if one wants to ride the whole province.
Well, the dream of a single pass might be getting a little closer, with the Park to Park trail system joining up with the Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance “One Pass.” The Eastern Ontario Trails alliance has been providing their online pass for several year, either online or through local retailers, but the addition of the 140 miles of trail in the Park to Park system means that visitors get to experience a grand total of over 1800 miles of killer ATVing.
