Amazing Shaolin and Wudang Kung Fu Demo and Temple Tour
Zhongyue Miao 中岳庙 in China near the famous Shaolin Temple is a beautiful hidden gem. A real contrast to the busy and commercial Shaolin Temple, it is a prime example of a working ancient Daoist Temple, over 2,000 years old, still in use today.
This video has a quick temple tour and an amazing Kung Fu demonstration on the Temple grounds.
It's a unique demonstration because it has groups of Shaolin Kung Fu and Daoist, Wudang style performers together cooperating in the same event. It's interesting to see the hard Shaolin style together with the softer, flowing Daoist style of Kung Fu. This isn't on Wudang mountain, but the Daoist Kung Fu Style is influenced or has elements from Wudang. The Shaolin Temple is very close by, so the Shaolin performers are showing many typical Shaolin feats of technique, acrobatics and strength.
Brief Introduction to Zhongyue Temple
Zhongyue Temple is a Taoist temple located at the southern foot of Taishi Mountain, a range of Mount Songshan in central China. Covering a total area of 110,000 square meters, it is the largest and best preserved ancient architectural complex among all the buildings located on the China's Five Great Mountains (Mount Hengshan in north, Mount Hengshan in the south, Mount Tai in the east, Mount Huashan in the west, and Songshan Mountain in the central). As a major scenic spot in Mount Songshan National Park, Zhongyue Temple was included into World Heritage List by UNESCO in 2010.
Originally constructed in Qin Dynasty (221BC-207BC) as a sacred place where to worship the god of Mount Songshan, Zhongyue Temple was flourished in Western Han Dynasty (260BC-9AD) after Emperor Hanwu offered sacrifice to Mount Songshan and left behind an additional temple, namely Taishi Temple. In Northern Wei Dynasty (386-557), Zhongyue Temple turned to a Taoist temple. Favored by many emperors, it was sequentially enlarged and renovated in different dynasties. The present buildings were renovated in Qing Dynasty (1944-1911) according to the style of imperial palace.
Highlights in Zhongyue Temple
Zhongyue Temple has a total of more than 400 buildings with 11 major buildings standing along the central axis, which spans over 650 meters. From south to north, from low to high, the main buildings are the First Gate of China, Yaosen Pavilion, Tianzhong Palace, Pei Tian Zuo Zhen Memorial Archway, Chongsheng Gate, Huasan Gate, Junji Gate, Song Gao Jun Ji Memorial Archway, Junji Palace, Bedding Palace and Royal Study.

There are more than 2900 cypress trees in Zhongyue Temple. About 330 of them were planted in between Han Dynasty and Qing Dynasty. About 2600 trees were planted after the founding of PRC. These cypress trees give the temple an exceptional air of tranquility.

It is a tradition in Dengfeng to hold the temple fair every year on the tenth day of the third month and tenth day of the tenth month in Chinese lunar calendar. Some customaries are still popular today such as tethering clay baby'' for women who wish for a baby and ''touching the ironman'' for children to dispel sickness. During the temple fair, people will have activities such as Lion Dance and Fire Dragon Dance.

Dengfeng city - located at the foot of the Mount Song, one of the most sacred mountains in China. The city is one of the most renowned spiritual centres of China, home to various religious institutions and famous temples, such as the Taoist Zhongyue Temple, the Buddhist Shaolin Temple - a place of martial arts, as well as the Confucian Songyang Academy, hence its poetic expression derived from Chinese literature as the spiritual centre of heaven and earth.
Song Mountain / Song Shan 嵩山 China
Song Mountain lies in Dengfeng city, in the heart of Henan Province and about 80 kilometers (50 miles) east of its capital, Zhengzhou. Song Mountain, which is also known as Zhong Yue (middle mountain), is known as one of the Five Mountains of China. The others in this group are Tai mountain in Shandong Province, Hua Mountain in Shaanxi Province, Mount Heng in Shanxi Province and Mount Heng in Hunan Province.
Song Mountain has fine natural scenery. Its 72 mountains, grouped around the peaks of Mount Shaoshi and Mount Taishi, extend for about 70 kilometers (43 miles) from east to west. Besides these mountains, there are many valleys, caves, pools and waterfalls, each of which provides the visitor with a unique and wonderful experience. The landscape is so unique that it has been given the title of 'International Geological Park' by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Shaolin marathon in China's Henan Province, cradle of Kung Fu
An international marathon was staged on Sunday around Shaolin Temple, the cradle of Kung Fu, in Dengfeng City of Henan Province in central China.
Some 2,500 runners were off with hundreds of students Kung Fu show who were all from the martial arts schools in Dengfeng city, where more than 100,000 people from all over the world learn Kung Fu.
The route of Shaolin Marathon was ran around Shaolin Temple, Songyang Academy, Huishan Temple, Zhongyue Temple, and all of them were in the World Cultural Heritage List.
Wang Xiaoning won the men's title in 2 hours and 54 minutes.
MALTA: 2017 Happy Chinese New Year Valletta - Shaolin Monks & Louhe Acrobatic troupe
11th Edition of Happy Chinese New Year Valletta - The annual event was co-organised by the China Cultural Centre in Malta, Valletta Local Council. The Opening Performance for The Year of The Rooster was celebrated on the 21st of January in the City of Valletta, Malta, Europe.
This year, the show featuring - Shaolin Monks Martial Arts Display which was presented by Deng Feng Zhongyue Shaolin Boxing Culture Troupe of Songshan Shaolin Temple Warrior Monks’ Training Base and Luohe Acrobatic Troupe, Henan Province, P.R. China.
The video shows clips of the Street Performance followed by the state performance held at The Royal Theatre in Valletta. Among the Martial Arts displays were in animal forms, broad sword, spears, chain whips & leather whip, double edge sword, hook sword, kwan dao, spear, staff (woodstick), demonstration of Qi and so forth. The Louhe Acrobatic Troupe performed the art of balancing incl. acrobatic-ballet.
Amongst the guests were The President of Malta, H.E.Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, Hon. Owen Bonnici MP - Minister for Justice, Culture and Local Government, Hon. Chris Agius MP (Labour) - Parliamentary Secretary, H.E. Mr. Jiangjiang, Ambassador, China Embassy, all who presented beautiful speeches.
Both organisers - Mr. Wang Yanjun, Director of China Cultural Centre Malta and Professor Alexei Dingli, Mayor of Valletta, also presented meaningful speeches.
The purpose of this annual cultural event is to nurture the relationship between the both countries whilst supporting bilateral commitment through cultural exchanges and projects by sharing and enhancing the appreciation of humanity and the arts, more so, to strengthening the ties between China and Malta.
Year, 2017 is the 45th year diplomatic ties between China and Malta.
