Orlík Castle (South Bohemia, Czech Republic) | [HD] SmartDrone.fr | S01E03
Built in the thirteenth-century probably by Přemysl Otakar II on a 60-meter high cliff, Orlík Castle dominates the Vltava River valley.
At this time it was a wooden castle like an eagle’s nest.
In later centuries it gained the appearance of a stone Gothic castle for the royal garrison.
However, the rock and the settlement below the castle were swallowed up by a dam in the 20th century, but the impressive appearance and the ancient name Orlík (Small Eagle) were preserved.
Orlík Castle has long belonged to the Schwarzenbergs, an influential family during the reign of the Habsburgs.
Today, the castle museum houses the personal collection of this noble family.
The arms room has an exceptionally beautiful interior.
Access to the château is by a stone bridge across the moat.
Three round towers rise above the main facade, one of them being the original, built in the 14th century.
The passage into the château is cut into the rock and leads to a trapezoidal courtyard, with arcades on the ground floor.
The oldest building is the former palace, which dates from the 14th century and forms the north side of the courtyard.

Zvíkov Castle
The castle is one of the most important early-Gothic castles in Czech lands.
The area was inhabited as early as prehistoric times, when the Celts built a fort here in the 1st century AD. The current castle was built in the first half of the 13th century, most probably on the orders of King Přemysl Otakar I, but the exact date is not known. The first written mention of the castle comes from year 1234 and owned by the Kings of Bohemia.

Bike Ride Destination: Zvikov Castle
My 28th bike ride since I started MTBiking in April 2015. Destination: Zvikov Castle, South Bohemia, Czech Republic. The ride started in Pisek, where I currently live. I went with my Scott Aspect 940 (2015) through forest trails, fire roads, sandy riverside paths, paved roads, cornfields, etc, and the castle is the prize destination! This bike ride is dedicated to my dearly beloved wife, Mary Jo-ann.
Czech Republic - Sloup Rock Castle
The Hermit Stone is probably the most significant rock castle in northern Bohemia. It is likely that the rock-carved rooms were part of a bigger castle just _ today but no one can say where it was at all. Its history is very mystery. Other literature is doubted that this was a castle. It could have been a manor in. Until the 18th Century, the castle was a hermitage. Today it can be visited.

The Czech state was formed in the late 9th century as the Duchy of Bohemia under the Great Moravian Empire.
After the fall of the Empire in 907, the center of power transferred from Moravia to Bohemia under the Přemyslid dynasty.
In 1002, the duchy was formally recognized as part of the Holy Roman Empire, becoming the Kingdom of Bohemia in 1198 and reaching its greatest territorial extent in the 14th century.
Prague was the imperial seat in periods between the 14th and 17th century.
With the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806, the Bohemian Kingdom became part of the Austrian Empire.
In the 19th century, the Czech lands became the industrial powerhouse of the monarchy and were subsequently the core of the Republic of Czechoslovakia, which was formed in 1918 following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire after World War I.
On 1 January 1993, Czechoslovakia peacefully dissolved, with its constituent states becoming the independent states of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic.
