The sight of Huizhou to the average traveller invariably arouses surprise. Some 40 miles north of Shenzhen, in verdant, tropical countryside, a common reaction is Where did this place come from? Until comparatively recently (the 1980's) Huizhou was a sleepy Guangdong town on the Pearl River Delta. It has since exploded with industry, attracting investment from Japanese, Korean, European and American companies. It is one of the most architecturally pleasing small cities in all of Guangdong, and one of the very richest. CIA reports citing it as the de-facto HQ for all organized crime in Hong Kong and Guangdong may go some way to explaining the many sumptuous housing developments here, as well as the plethora of Porsches, five-star hotels and other indicators of high-end living. Huizhou is where the Triad crime bosses come to dialogue and chill. Something of an anomaly within mainland China, this is a city that answers to no-one and those who live here have definite reasons for doing so.

Of the ten highest airports in the world, six are located in Tibetan Plateau; four are located in Altiplano in west-central South America, where the Andes are at their widest.
At high altitudes, airport runways are longer. Because the amount of oxygen in the air is lower, airplane engines produce less thrust than normal. In addition, less dense air exerts less force against wings lifting surfaces, requiring higher than normal lift-off speeds, hence longer runs. The longest runway in the world is at Qamdo Bamda Airport in Tibet. The runway is 5,500 metres long. In comparison, the longest runway at John F. Kennedy International Airport is 4,423 metres long. At an elevation of 4,334 metres above sea level, Qamdo Bamda Airport is the world’s second highest airport.
The longest airport runway in Latin America belongs to Inca Manco Cápac International Airport in Peru. The runway is 4,200 metres long. Inca Manco Cápac International Airport is the ninth highest airport on earth, with an altitude of 3,826 metres.
At high altitudes, airports plays an essential role in connecting remote communities to the rest of the world. Yushu, a county in Qinghai province, China, is situated at 3,700 metres above sea level. The county has 89,000 inhabitants; 93% of them are tibetans. On April 14, 2010, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake hit the county at 7:49 am. Yushu Batang Airport, 30 kilometres away from the epicenter, reopened at noon. The first flight with personnel and supplies of the China International Earthquake Rescue Team landed at 8 pm the same day. During the entire rescue and relief operation, the airport handled 490 flights, delivering more than 2,000 tons of cargos and 17,000 rescue personnel to the disaster area. Yushu Airport is the eighth highest airport in the world, with an altitude of 3,890 meters. The airport has a 3,800 metre long runway. Only a few modified civil airplanes, including Airbus A319, can land at the plateau airport, due to the altitude. Yushu Airport has a capacity to handle 80,000 passengers per year.
The fifth highest airport on earth is El Alto International Airport. With an altitude of 4,062 meters, it is also the world’s highest international airport. The airport’s main runway is 4,000 metres long. Due to the high altitude, most commercial wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 747 and Airbus A330 can’t operate out of El Alto International Airport. As a result, much of the international traffic to and from Bolivia is handled by Viru Viru International Airport, which is 530 kilometres away.
The tenth highest airport in the world is Xigazê Peace Airport, with an altitude of 3,782 metres. The airport serves Xigazê, the second largest city in Tibet Autonomous Region. The city is home to the magnificent Tashilhunpo Monastery, which was founded by the 1st Dalai Lama in 1447. The airport has a 5,000 metre runway and can receive Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircrafts, with a capacity to handle 230,000 passengers annually.
Near the Bolivian city Potosi, a small airport named Captain Nicolas Rojas Airport is the seventh highest airport in the world. The airport is located at 3,936 metres above sea level. The airport runway is 2,833 metre long, which is the shortest among the world’s ten highest airports. Captain Nicolas Rojas Airport is served by only one airline. Due to local climate and the high altitude, the airport is operable only in the morning.
The world’s sixth highest airport is Uyuni Airport, with an altitude of 3,954 metres. The airport is close to the Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat. The airport improves access to the remote Uyuni area, especially in winter when roads become impassable. Uyuni Airport has one runway which is 4,000 metres long.

Zhengzhou (simplified Chinese: 郑州; traditional Chinese: 鄭州; pinyin: Zhèngzhōu), formerly called Zhengxian is a prefecture-level city, and the capital of Henan province, People's Republic of China.The prefecture-level city of Zhengzhou administers 12 county-level divisions, including 6 districts, 5 county-level cities and 1 county.The Shang Dynasty established Aodu (隞都) or Bodu (亳都) in Zhengzhou (see also: History of China). The pre-historical city had been long lost even before the time of the First Emperor of China. Since 1950 archaeological finds have shown that there were Neolithic settlements in the area and that the Shang Bronze Age culture, which flourished there from about 1500 BC, was centered on a walled city. Outside this city, in addition to remains of large public buildings, a complex of small settlements has been discovered. The site is generally identified with the Shang capital of Ao. The Shang, who continually moved their capital, left Ao, perhaps in the 13th century BC. The site, nevertheless, remained occupied; Zhou (post-1050 BC) tombs have also been discovered. Traditionally it is held that in the Western Zhou period (1111771 BC) it became the fief of a family named Guan. From this derives the name borne by the county (xian) since the late 6th century BC — Guancheng (City of the Guan). The city first became the seat of a prefectural administration in AD 587, when it was named Guanzhou. In 605 it was first called Zhengzhou — a name by which it has been known virtually ever since.The name of Zhengzhou came from Sui Dynasty (AD 581), albeit it was located in Chenggao, another town. The government moved to the contemporary city during Tang Dynasty. It achieved its greatest importance under the Sui (AD 581618), Tang (618907), and early Song (9601127) dynasties, when it was the terminus of the New Bian Canal, which joined the Yellow River to the northwest. There, at a place called Heyin, a vast granary complex was established to supply the capitals at Luoyang and Chang'an to the west and the frontier armies to the north. In the Song period, however, the transfer of the capital eastward to Kaifeng robbed Zhengzhou of much of its importance.Zhengzhou is a flat industrial city set amid the farmland of the central China plain. While it is not a tourist city, it is a good example of a remarkably fast-changing city in China without some of the tourism clutter. Note: Finding people to speak English can be a challenge sometimes so come prepared with some Chinese Language or the places you wish to go to written down for taxi drivers.
The best known tourist attraction is Shaolin Temple (少林寺), which is about more than 50 miles southwest of Zhengzhou. Shaolin Temple is famous not only as one of China's important Buddhist shrines, but also as the ancient center of Chinese kung-fu. Built in 495, the temple was originally designed to house Batuo, a celebrated Indian monk, who, after many years of spreading Buddhism, was later known as Fo Tuo, or Grand Monk. In 537, another famous Indian monk, Boddhidharma, settled in the temple, and as legend has it, created a sort of primitive bare-hand combat routine called xingyi boxing after he had sat meditating in a cave for nine years. The provincial museum in particular requires at least a half day visit to do justice to the many impressive exhibits, which range from prehistoric times, including dinosaur bones, up through the Qing Dynasty. The admission price was 20 yuan, but has now been made free of charge.
