Mainland Thessaly: Crafted by the Gods
In Meteora, giant outcrops, leviathans in store, rise suddenly from the plain, crowned with gravity-defying Byzantine monasteries reaching into the blue heavens for their ultimate inspirations. The open city of Larissa has youthful heart learning on a potent historical heritage. Trikala, with tree-lighned squares, plenty of pedestrian walkways, cyclists gamboling around its neighbourhoods and the aroma of coffee ever present in the air. With one eye on the breathtaking Agrafa mountain range and the other on the sweeping plain of Thessaly at its feet, you can pedal though the beatiful city of Karditsa. The beauty of its waters, reflecting the imperious peaks of the Agrafa mountain range, make Lake Plastira a desirable spot for lovers of nature. Nature sets the scene for fairytale fantasy in and aournd the famed double act of Elati and Pertouli. Pelion strikes a scintillating balance between the summer heat and the breezy cool of the high land.

Mythical Greece: exploring mountain routes of a beautiful countryside
The mountains of Greece and the Balkans are part of a mountain chain that runs across Europe and Asia, as far as south China and is of relative young age.
In Greece winter temperatures in the interior are low. Frost and snow occur frequently in northern Greece. By contrast the coasts are mostly frost free. The western coast of Greece has a warmer winter climate, rainfall is between 500 and 900mm which is more evenly spread throughout the year. The eastern coast and the Aegean islands have a more drier climate, there is little or no summer rainfall. Winters are correspondingly cooler. Enclosed basins inland may become much colder in winter, and built up heat in summer. The Aegean islands and Crete have the same kind of climate but are more equable, being tempered by the surrounding seas.

The interior of Greece will astonish you with its rich variety and pure charm
How is it possible that such a small country has so much to offer? Maybe it’s time to find out. Continental Greece, with its succession of landscapes etched in high relief, is a treasure chest of unique experiences whether in the great outdoors or in the realm of culture.
Here you will find some of the most popular landscapes in Greece – landscapes with alpine valleys, mountain peaks above the clouds, gorges and canyons, paths through oak, beech and plane tree forests, rivers spanned by arched stone bridges, watermills, waterfalls, national parks with rare flora and fauna, precious wetlands. And in the midst of it all, the human element, centuries of Greek civilisation in harmony with the environment: There are rustic villages, ancient ruins that occupy the most dramatic locations, hot springs, isolated monasteries and chapels, castles, towers and abandoned hamlets, cheery mountain towns, and ski centres with beautiful chalets.
Popular destinations in mainland Greece
Every corner of mainland Greece will leave its imprint on your memory. From traditional Pelion to the Zagorohoria, the valley of Tempi, celestial Olympus, Meteora with its awe-inspiring monasteries perched on rocky monoliths, to Ancient Dion, these are unique destinations of rare natural beauty with rich history and traditions. You’ll discover nature at its most transcendent in the mountain areas of Elati and Pertouli, around Lake Plastira, Lake Kerkini and Lailia, Valia Kalda and Metsovo, the Prespes lakes with their hermitages and rare bird populations, and Nymfaio.

Entry from: STIMFALIA, Greece
Entry Title: ORINI KORINTHIA - FENEOS (Peloponnese)
Entry:
We are visiting Orini Korinthia and the Lake (reservoir) of Feneos.
It is about 142 km from Athens and 73 km from Patras.
We passed through Stimfalia and Kastania. The place is full of an incredible variety of trees, fir-forests and lush vegetation. The whole area is unique for walking, and horse riding.
I am talking to a local while buying some walnuts an I tell him how amazed I am with this beauty out here, and that the place reminds me of Switzerland. He tells me that this place here is called the Greek Switzerland by many people and tourists.
We come to the lake where we get off the coach and walk towards the small church of St. Fanourios. This reminds me again of another island. The island of Corfu and the popular Pontikonisi.
Stimfalia is the place where Hercules exterminated Stimfalion's hens back in mythology. In the northern side of the lake there are the ruins of the Citadel of ancient Stimfalia.
Upon reaching the dam we have a marvellous view of lake Doxa, one of the most beautiful in Greece.
We also pass through Trikala Korinthias, located in the hill side of Ziria (Killini) mountain, in an altitude of 900 meters.
I am amazed from the beauty here!
Enjoy the photos I have taken.

Trip to Florida 2012 | Rear View | 2 of 24 | From Hiawatha, KS to Missouri City, MO
Starting out at Hiawatha, we take East U.S. 36 to St. Joseph, MO and South I-29 to Kansas City. We hit road construction along U.S. 69 that detours us onto MO 9 where we cross the Missouri River to Downtown. After driving in Downtown KC and seeing the AMC Theatres building we wind up on I-35 heading to Overland Park and Associated Radio to buy my Yeasu FT-60 Handy Talkie. We then go back to KC to visit the late Bannister Mall. Then we'll take a drive to the yet-to-be-late Metro North Mall to make fun of the old Montgomery Ward building that is still standing. We'll hit the road after fueling up and take MO 210 to Missouri City via most of the old highway. The DVD ends at a nub of the old road. A smashed up TV set made me think twice about doing that again.
This series of videos chronicles my travels through the states of Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and Iowa. as filmed in Mid August of 2012. The video is in real time as time lapse, while cool, is distracting and takes away from the real beauty of this wonderful country. Please be aware the original audio was striped away (was Sirius XM Satellite Radio) due to copyright concerns.
The video is very long. If you like it please leave a comment. If you like the channel, subscribe to it. If you have a comment, question, concern or criticism that offers advice, please leave it (it has to be okayed by me before being published), if you plan on leaving a smart-ass remark (like one one made by X1yoyo1X: I watched the whole thing. NOT :D )it will not be published and you'll be blocked!
