Norway in a Nutshell Tour - Kjosfossen Waterfall, Norway!
Kjosfossen is a waterfall located in Aurland municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It is one of the highlights on the Flåm Railway. The waterfall has a total fall of 225 metres (738 ft) and is only accessible by train.
The train stops here for five minutes only - Just to watch the waterfall and the Huldra singing the Norwegian folk song.
This train ride is a part of the popular Norway in a Nutshell Journey.
The Flåm Line passes directly in front of the waterfall and stops for a few minutes. During that time, a Huldra appears before the visitors and sings and dances to a beautiful Norwegian folk song.
Watch our other video to see the Huldra, a seductive forest spirit singing and dancing by the waterfalls!
This video was taken during our second leg of our Norway in a Nutshell Tour.

Flam, Norwegian Fjords Cruise
Visit to Flam June 5, 2013 at a Vision of the Seas Cruise from Copenhagen.
Flam is a village at the inner end of the Aurlandsfjord, an arm of the Sognefjord.
The village is located in the municipality of Aurland in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway.
The village is located along the E16 highway, about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) southwest of Aurlandsvangen, 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) south of Undredal, and 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) east of Gudvangen (through the Gudvanga Tunnel).
The village of Flåm is a popular tourist destination and has been so since the late 19th century. It currently receives almost 450,000 visitors a year. Most come to enjoy the scenic 20-kilometre (12 mi) Flam railway (Norwegian: Flamsbana) between Flam and Myrdal, one of the steepest railway tracks at 1 in 18 (not counting rack railways) in the world. There are also a few spirals.
A former rail station building in Flam now houses a museum dedicated to the Flam railway.
The harbour of Flam receives some 131 cruise ships per year.
The Rallarvegen road between Flam and Finse is popular with bicycle tourists. See also my video from Flam Railway Ride
Norway (Naeroyfjord)
ΠεριγραφήThe Nærøyfjord (or Nærøyfjorden) is a fjord in the municipality of Aurland of Norway. The narrow fjord is a branch of the large Sognefjord. The 18-kilometre (11 mi) long fjord is only 500 metres (1,600 ft) wide in some parts. The river Nærøydalselvi flows down the valley Nærøydalen into the fjord at the village of Gudvangen, near the highway E16. The village of Bakka and the Bakka church are located on the west shore of the fjord. Since 2005, the Nærøyfjord has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has also been rated by the National Geographic Society as the world's number one natural heritage site along with the Geirangerfjord. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Hiking Aurlandsdalen Valley to Flam
Here’s my video of hiking Aurlandsdalen Mike Wick of “Nor-sota” lodge 1-602 (or the Aurlandsdal) is a glacially-formed Norwegian valley that is about (25 mi) in length. The valley is situated in Aurland municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, to the south of the Sognefjorden on the way to Flam. One of the best-known tourist tracks in Norway follows the valley from Geiteryggen just across the border of Hol municipality and north east to Aurlandsvangen at the Aurlandsfjorden in Sogn. The valley narrows and becomes a tight, dramatic Western Norway valley. (Wikipedia) If in norway and you want to take a 4 day hike go to: Norway arranges hotels and guides for the hike.
The route east or west from Aurland to Hol or Hol to Aurland has been the shortest connection between western and eastern Norway since prehistoric times. You could call it a super highway from Olso to Sogne Fjords then Ocean. After you take a hike from Osterbo to Vassbygdi the steepest park of Aurlandsdal Valley you could catch a bus to Flam
The hike from Østerbø Fjellstove to Vassbygdi is quite famous. The untouched, wild and beautiful nature of Western Norway, along with the age-old history and culture of all the small settlements, builds respect and fascination for what is and what once was there. One hike through a cultural landscape of abandoned farms at Nesbø, SinjarheimandAlmen, past Nesbøgalden, Berekvamsbrennevinet, Bjørnstigen, Likbjørka andVetlahelvete. All of these names signifies not only a very descriptive name and a very interesting history behind the names, but also tells a story about the culture through generations. At Tirtesva the path divides into two directions. One can choose the steep path Bjørnestigen or the easier route along the river. At Bjønnstigsletta the paths meets yet again.
Norway (Aurlandsfjord)
Aurlandsfjord (Norwegian: Aurlandsfjorden) is a fjord in Norway. The fjord flows through the municipalities of Aurland, Vik, and Lærdal. The 29-kilometre (18 mi) long fjord is a branch of the main Sognefjorden, Norway's longest fjord. The fjord is deep and narrow, reaching a depth of about 962 metres (3,156 ft) below sea level, and its width is generally less than 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) wide. The village of Flåm sits at the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord; other villages along the fjord are Aurlandsvangen and Undredal. Most of the fjord is surrounded by up to 1,800-metre (5,900 ft) tall, steep mountains with little habitation along the fjord except for in a few small valleys. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
The Fjords of Norway - World Heritage
UNESCO has included the fjords of Norway, exemplified by the Nærøyfjord and the Geirangerfjord, on its renowned World Heritage List. The Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord now enjoy the same recognition as the Great Wall of China, the Great Pyramids of Egypt, Zambias Victoria Falls and the Grand Canyon in USA.
The west Norwegian fjords are classic, superbly developed fjords, considered as the type locality for fjord landscapes in the world. They are comparable in scale and quality to other existing fjords on the World Heritage List and are distinguished by the climate and geological setting.
The Naeroyfjord and the Geirangerfjord areas are considered to be among the most outstanding fjord areas on the planet. The Naeroyfjord is perhaps the most spectacular arm of the Sognefjord, and the narrowest fjord in the world, at on point only 250 metres across with mountains towering more than 1700 metres above its tranquil waters. The fjord area has been inhabited for about 10 000 years. The area has been farmed for almost 3000 years, and farming is still important for people living along the fjord.
The west Norwegian fjords are situated one on each side of the Jostedalsbreen Glacier and comprise of the municipalities of Aurland, Lærdal, Vik and Voss on the south side and the municipalities of Norddal and Stranda on the north side.

Norway 2017 - Blood Road ( Blodveien)
he Blood Road (Blodveien) is a route northeast of Rognan in the municipality of Saltdal in Nordland county, Norway that was built by prisoners during the Second World War. The route was a new section of Norwegian National Road 50 between Rognan and Langset on the east side of Saltdal Fjord (Saltdalsfjorden), where there was a ferry service before the war. The specific incident that gave the road its name was a cross of blood that was painted on a rock cutting in June 1943. The blood came from a prisoner that was shot along the route, and the cross was painted by his brother.
2017 students and officials from the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Norway honored the fallen fighters from Secod World War.
Most important is that we made a lot of friendships on this trip.
