Qantas Founders Museum 747 707 tour - Longreach EP07
Tour of the Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach featuring the Boeing 747, Boeing 707, Qantas Heritage Hangar, and Catalina flying boat. Join me on this special pilot vlog at the museum as part of my 6 day trip flying solo from Melbourne to Longreach and back.
Thanks to our Jet Tour guide Alex for allowing me to film the tour, it's her voice you'll hear in some parts talking about the Boeing 747 and Boeing 707.
I'm flying from Melbourne to Longreach in a Cirrus SR20 under the Instrument and Visual flight rules. Stopping at regional airports along the way, hopefully meeting some interesting people and fellow aviators, and sharing the whole trip with you here on YouTube.

The name Daly Waters was given to a series of natural springs by John McDouall Stuart during his third attempt to cross Australia from south to north, in 1861-2. Stuart named the springs after the new Governor of South Australia, Sir Dominick Daly.
Stuart's first attempt, in 1860, had reached Tennant Creek. The second, in early 1861, pushed further north but again Stuart turned back. The third journey left Adelaide in October 1861 and reached Daly Waters on 28 May. The party had been pushing through difficult lancewood scrub and harsh terrain at a little over a kilometre a day. This journey was successful, reaching the north coast near modern Darwin on 24 July 1862. Stuart's Tree has an 'S' carved into it by Stuart during his journey.
The Overland Telegraph Line reached Daly Waters from the north in June 1872 and for two months a 'pony express' carried messages the 421 km to Tennant Creek via Renner Springs, Northern Territory.
Daly Waters Airfield was a centre for the London to Sydney air race of 1926, a refuelling stop for early Qantas flights to Singapore, a World War II Airforce base and more recently an operational base for joint military manoeuvres. Although the aerodrome was closed to commercial traffic in 1965 the original Qantas hangar still stands, housing exhibits of photographs and equipment from the area's aviation past.
The traditional owners of the area became the fourth Indigenous group in the Northern Territory to gain native title over both the townsite and ten surrounding pastoral leases covering an area of 30,000 square kilometres (11,583 sq mi). The Australian Federal Court had a special ceremonial sitting on nearby Newcastle Waters Station to commemorate the occasion.

Dunstaffnage Castle Near Oban Scotland
Tour Scotland video of Dunstaffnage Castle near Oban. The castle was built in the second quarter of the 13th century, as the seat of Duncan MacDougall, Lord of Lorn and grandson of Somerled. Robert the Bruce defeated the Clan MacDougall at the Battle of the Pass of Brander in 1308 or 1309, and after a brief siege, took control of Dunstaffnage Castle. Dunstaffnage was controlled by a series of keepers. king James I seized the castle in 1431, following the Battle of Inverlochy. King James III granted Dunstaffnage to Colin Campbell, 1st Earl of Argyll in 1470. During the Jacobite risings of 1715 and 1745, the castle was occupied by government troops. Flora MacDonald, who helped Bonnie Prince Charlie to escape from Scotland, was briefly imprisoned here while en route to imprisonment in London. England. The Campbells continued to add to the castle, building a new house over the old west range in 1725. However, the rest of the castle was already decaying. In 1810 an accidental fire gutted the castle
