Road Trip #294 - City Drive - Houston, Texas (Long)
Road Trip #294 - City Drive - Houston, Texas (Long)
During our trip to Houston in May, we had to take a trip across Houston, from our hotel near the Galleria, to Baytown. We set Waze to Avoid Freeways, and set off across town, taking us through varying neighborhoods and a huge railyard. This video shows that trip up to the Houston City Limits mostly in real-time, with stops trimmed out, and some of the less scenic areas sped up a little bit.
This is a long video, so if you'd like to see a sped up version, and save some time, please see this link:

Baytown, Texas - Houston Ship Channel
The Houston Ship Channel in Houston, Texas is part of the Port of Houston — one of the United State's busiest sea ports. The channel is a conduit for ocean going vessels between the the city of Houston and the Gulf of Mexico. The channel is a widened and deepened natural watercourse. Major products such as petrochemical and Midwestern grain and transported in bulk together with general cargo. It has been used to move goods to the sea since at least 1836. BUC-EE'S MEGA GAS STATION, BAYTOWN, TEXAS, U.S.A.
Located in Baytown, Texas, just east of Houston, off Interstate 10.
No idea if they indeed have 248 fuel pumps, I personally have not counted them all up, regardless this particular gas station might be indeed the largest gas station in the world... until somebody proves it otherwise!
Also a huge indoor store with dozens of very clean and beautifully-maintained restrooms for women and men.
But what's most important, lowest gas prices maybe in the entire Western World and not just U.S.A.
texas
Therefore, anytime driving on I-10 east of Houston AND enjoy saving on gas, feel free to stop at Buc-Eee's in Baytown, Texas.
You won't regret it!

Named after Bernardo de Gálvez y Madrid, Count of Gálvez (born in Macharaviaya, Malaga, Spain), Galveston's first European settlements on the island were built around 1816 by French pirate Louis-Michel Aury to help the fledgling Republic of Mexico fight Spain. The Port of Galveston was established in 1825 by the Congress of Mexico following its independence from Spain. The city was the main port for the Texas Navy during the Texas Revolution, and later served as the capital of the Republic of Texas.
During the 19th century, Galveston became a major U.S. commercial center and one of the largest ports in the United States. It was devastated by the 1900 Galveston Hurricane, whose effects included flooding and a storm surge. The natural disaster on the exposed barrier island is still ranked as the deadliest in United States history, with an estimated death toll of 6,000 to 12,000 people.
Much of Galveston's economy is centered in the tourism, health care, shipping, and financial industries. The 84-acre (340,000 m2) University of Texas Medical Branch campus with an enrollment of more than 2,500 students is a major economic force of the city. Galveston is home to six historic districts containing one of the largest and historically significant collections of 19th-century buildings in the United States, with over 60 structures listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
