Biscarrosse is a town on the Atlantic coast of southwest France. It’s known for its lakes and beaches. Maguide and Navarrosse beaches dot the shoreline of the vast, shallow north lake, along with the water slides of AquaPark. On the south lake, vintage seaplanes are on display at the Musée de l’Hydraviation. Cycle paths and trails cross the surrounding forests and dunes to wide, sandy surf beaches like Vivier Beach.
Biscarrosse is a commune in the Landes department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. It is located 65 km (40 mi) southwest of Bordeaux, and 10 km (6.2 mi) inland from the seaside resort of Biscarrosse-Plage on the Atlantic coast. Near Biscarrosse is the CEL (national test centre) from which numerous French military rockets have been launched for test purposes. Likewise, the CEL has facilities for launching civilian rockets to study the upper atmosphere.
Near the town centre, outside the Café de l'orme, there was what is believed to have been the oldest elm tree in Europe. Planted in 1350, this Field Elm Ulmus minor died in 2010 after finally succumbing to Dutch elm disease. Legend has it that girls deemed promiscuous were forced to stand naked upon a barrel beneath the tree for a day. One unfortunate, unjustly accused, died of shame, the tree annually producing a corona of blanched leaves in her memory. The commune has an airport, called Biscarrosse - Parentis Airport.
Biscarrosse is a popular seaside resort on the Atlantic coast south of Arcachon in south-west France. The coastal resort is called Biscarrosse Plage although locals and French people often refer to the resort as Bisca. There are several distinct parts to Biscarrosse: the beach resort, the town itself and the lake. The town is a few kilometres away from the beaches and is a popular tourist resort in its own right as it is on the edge of Biscarrosse lake.
There is a 15th century castle and a church that are of historical interest, but most important - don't miss the 'Biscarrosse Elm'. At 750 years old it is the oldest in Europe, and one of the few to avoid Dutch Elm disease. It's in pretty rough looking condition, but so would you be if you were that old. There are actually two large leisure lakes here : the Etang de Biscarrosse et de Parentis (to the south) and the Etang de Cazaux et de Sanguinet (to the north), with Biscarrosse town between them. The lakes are popular for learning sailing, windsurfing and water-skiing as well as to soak up the sun on sandy beaches. The lakes are also ideal if the surfing waves on the beach become too much for small children - the lake also has extensive beaches.
Next to the Atlantic Ocean is the resort of Biscarrosse Plage. The focus here is of course on enjoying the ocean but you also have the chance for shopping and eating out: mostly in gift shops and fast-food restaurants. The beach, like many on the Atlantic ocean, is a lovely long sandy beach which stretches as far as the eye can see. The beach has an area which is watched by lifeguards during the summer season - stay within the flags - and gets quite crowded (as in the photo below), while the rest of the beach is generally quiet.

Hello,
Here you can see a few views of Dune of Pilat and Arcachon(which is a seaside town close to it). My bestie brought me there and I fell in love with both places :))) I know I am cheating since there's no Bordeaux videos in here, but my friend is from Bordeaux and I stayed there most days during my holidays, so you can find loads of photos and my impressions on my blog :)
I highly recommend the Bordeaux area for a visit....

Capbreton is a commune in the Landes department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. Located at the mouth of the Boudigau and Bourret rivers, the town is situated about 40 km north of Biarritz. Capbreton is north of Bayonne and Biarritz in south-west France at the point where the river Adour ends it’s passage to the sea. If you love seafood this is unquestionably one of the best places to visit in France. It’s income has traditionally been netted from the fruits of the sea, and it is recognised as one of the best places to eat fresh fish and seafood.
perhaps it’s the Gauf, a deep water crevice extending to over 1000 meters below sea level or just the fresh ocean current that delivers this exotic mix of sea fruit, but ultimately for me it’s the freshness of the produce and the skills of the restaurants that cook and serve it. It’s superb, and a plate of 'fruit de mer' (seafood) is a brilliant reminder of your visit.
Nowadays, Capbreton is set up for the tourist market, but not like Newquay or Brighton… yes, there are surf shops, designer labels and sunglasses and yes of course you can buy buckets, fishing nets and coral jewellery, but the focus is on the sea, the waves, the sunsets, the brilliant weather and the lifestyle that calls itself.
It’s where the French go on holiday and it’s a well kept secret, lapped by the channel. The area is clean and unspoilt with a timeless charm. For the children there are miles upon miles of sandy beaches, though watch out for the strong current. There are ice-cream shops that sell every flavour you could imagine, there are rock-pools with the opportunity to net your own oysters, and of course there’s the sand… and there’s lots of it.
Capbreton is divided into two parts. To the north, there is the port centre, with your usual suspects… the Surf Shacks and the bucket and spade vendors, sandwiches that cost the earth and well meaning restaurants serving this mornings catch at overinflated prices. You’ll find obstacle courses for fitness enthusiasts, playgrounds for the under 10’s and hairdressers and boutiques for the glamorous that shop. Continue passed these and you’ll find a quaint harbour beach where you can revisit your childhood, finding treasures in the rock pools and shoals of miniature fry ready to be snapped up by your infants. You’ll discover crabs of every colour and pick fresh oysters from the rocks if no one beats you to it! It’s the place of childhood dreams as you play pirate on the jetty and scrape the sand from your toes.
Slightly downstream, and usually after lunch, you can visit the Grand Plage. This is a luxuriously long beach with the odd parasol but not a wind break in sight, not a German towel, and no loud music and no rubbish! You have the choice of joining the throngs of French tourists, or walking further along the beach to find a deserted spot. The beach at Cap Breton is one of the cleanest in Europe, the sea is like a clear jewel, and the surf is great. Edged by a surprisingly tasteful block of tourist apartments, there are no high rise buildings, parking is a nightmare and the ocean current can be dangerous, so don’t let your children in alone.
