Blessington, historically known as Ballycomeen , is a town on the River Liffey in Wicklow, Ireland, near the border with Kildare. It is around 25 km south-west of Dublin, and is situated on the N81 road, which connects Dublin to Tullow.

Brú na Bóinne or Boyne valley tombs, is an area in County Meath, Ireland, located in a bend of the River Boyne. It contains one of the world's most important prehistoric landscapes dating from the Neolithic period, including the large Megalithic passage graves of Knowth, Newgrange and Dowth as well as some 90 additional monuments. The archaeological culture associated with these sites is called the Boyne culture. Since 1993 the site has been a World Heritage Site designated by UNESCO, known since 2013 as Brú na Bóinne - Archaeological Ensemble of the Bend of the Boyne.

The Wicklow Mountains form the largest continuous upland area in Ireland. They occupy the whole centre of County Wicklow and stretch outside its borders into Counties Dublin, Wexford and Carlow. The mountains are primarily composed of granite surrounded by an envelope of mica-schist and much older rocks such as quartzite. They were pushed up during the Caledonian orogeny at the start of the Devonian period and form part of the Leinster Chain, the largest continuous area of granite in Ireland and Britain. Powerscourt Estate , located in Enniskerry, County Wicklow, Ireland, is a large country estate which is noted for its house and landscaped gardens, today occupying 19 hectares . The house, originally a 13th-century castle, was extensively altered during the 18th century by German architect Richard Cassels, starting in 1731 and finishing in 1741. A fire in 1974 left the house lying as a shell until it was renovated in 1996. Howth is a village and outer suburb of Dublin, Ireland. The district occupies the greater part of the peninsula of Howth Head, forming the northern boundary of Dublin Bay. Originally just a small fishing village, Howth with its surrounding once-rural district is now a busy suburb of Dublin, with a mix of suburban residential development, wild hillside and heathland, golf courses, cliff and coastal paths, a small quarry and a busy commercial fishing port. The only neighbouring district on land is Sutton. Howth is also home to one of the oldest occupied buildings in Ireland, Howth Castle. It has been the location for many films. Scenic Wicklow Mountains/Historic Glendalough Monastery-Day Trip from Dublin, Ireland

We took a great day trip from Dublin to the beautiful Wicklow Mountains and the historic Glendalough Monastery with our singing tour guide. The scenic Wicklow mountains include a lot of bogs and streams-the Guinness family estate is here and the movie Braveheart was filmed in this area. The Glendalough monastery is several hundred years old and you can still see many of the old buildings, including the Round Tower, The Cathedral, the Priest's house, St. Kevin's Church, and the old cemetery. There is also a beautiful lake and green hills nearby.

Hollywood County Wicklow is a small town situated on the way to Glendalough, most people touring in Ireland just pass through it and never stop there. West Wicklow is always under appreciated. it is a very beautiful part of Ireland with rolling hills and stunning scenery. St Kevin's Way starts or ends in Hollywood depending on the direction your walking in. Many scenes in the film Michael Collins were shot in Hollywood. It is approximately 10 miles from Blessington and Baltinglass and 6 Miles from Naas.

Blessington Greenway

The Blessington Greenway walk links the historic town of Blessington with the Palladian mansion at Russborough House. The trail starts at Blessington and leads south along the shores of Blessington Lakes and through forest and natural woodland. The Greenway commences at Avon Ri Activity Centre at the southern end of the town and weaves its way along the shores, crosses an ancient medieval Ringfort, uses the footpath along part of the N81 before turning back into the forest at Burgage Moyle lane. It then crosses the Valleymount Road (R758) and makes its way to Russellstown Bay adjacent to Russborough House. Along the way you will have the opportunity to appreciate the magnificent scenery and wildlife in the area.
