Places to see in ( Almagro - Spain )
Almagro is a town and municipality situated in Ciudad Real province, in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha, Spain. A tourist destination, Almagro is designated a Conjunto histórico, a type of conservation area.
Almagro lies within small Paleozoic mountain ranges, with some reserves of shallow creeks, including the Pellejero and de Cuetos. Almagro also lies within a volcanic zone (Cerrro de la Yezosa), which lies upon a quartzite massif. It makes the zone particularly unique, together with that of the zones of Olot and Cabo de Gata, in the sense that it is one of the few important zones of volcanic origin in the Iberian Peninsula. An International Festival of Classical Theater has also been celebrated here annually since 1978.
During the 1950s, the Corral de Comedias was discovered and restored. The Town Hall and Plaza Mayor were also restored. In 1972, Almagro was declared a Historical-Artistic Zone (Conjunto Histórico-Artístico). Numerous buildings were restored, including churches, palaces, houses, and hermitages. The Museo del Teatro (Theater Museum) was established in a spot near orchards and wine cellars; a special building was later built for it. Almagro became a center for the dramatic arts in the region, and the International Festival of Classical Theater (Festival Internacional de Teatro Clásico) was put on here. Almagro is a candidate for becoming World Heritage Site.
During the Peninsular War, an active Bonapartist masonic lodge was established in Almagro. The town suffered during the Carlist Wars and the sale of church lands by Juan Álvarez Mendizábal and Pascual Madoz. During the 19th century, the town faced competition from Ciudad Real and Bolaños de Calatrava. Almagro built a Plaza de Toros (1845) from materials originally from the stone tower of the ancient parish church of San Bartolomé, which had been demolished in 1845. The bullfighter Cagancho would later compete in this stadium.
Almagro is also famous for a variety of small aubergines, berenjenas de Almagro, seasoned and pickled according to a traditional recipe. These are usually eaten as a snack, along with other tapas, such as banderillas. An International Festival of Classical Theater has also been celebrated here annually since 1978.

Titanes: grandes artistas, enormes paredes, inmensos valores
The artist Okuda San Miguel and his Ink and Movement team are once again teaming up with the Laborvalía association to promote the integration of people with disabilities in society and the workplace. Phase one begins on 1 April and will run until October, with Ciudad Real set to experience a cultural transformation that will go down in history thanks to ‘Titanes’.
The project will convert the plains of La Mancha into an unmissable destination for art lovers. Fourteen of the biggest names on the contemporary art scene will paint ten disused silos in the region in one of the world’s biggest art events for social inclusion.
Ink and Movement is once again showcasing the talent of top international artists, accompanied by its inseparable partner in crime, Okuda San Miguel, who is curating the project. Titanes will involve big names from the history of the artform, including Bicicleta sem Freio, Daniel Muñoz, Demsky J., Equipo Plástico (made up of Eltono, Nuria Mora, Nano4814 and Sixe Paredes), Fintan Magee, Hell’O, Smithe, Nychos, Ricardo Cavolo and Spok Brillor, as well as Okuda himself, to transform each silo into a monumental work of art.
The artists won’t be working alone. The ‘Titanes’ initiative seeks to stimulate social inclusion through art, with 450 members of the Laborvalía association for the inclusion of people with disabilities working alongside the artists on various activities.
In partnership with the Provincial Government of Ciudad Real and the Laboravalía association, the municipalities of Calzada de Calatrava, Ciudad Real, Corral de Calatrava, , Herencia, La Solana, Manzanares, Malagón, Porzuna and Villanueva de los Infantes will see their old silos given a fresh lease of life, transforming them into titanic works of art with many different styles. The project is set to be one of the most important public art events in recent years.
The initiative marks the 15th anniversary of the first large-format urban art festival in Spain: the Urban Art event, which took place in 2004 on the Canary Islands. The original meeting was organised by Ink and Movement under its previous moniker Pluralform and was a pioneering event of its kind in Spain and beyond. Fast forward 15 years and many of the young artists who first took part are returning—now as well-established names—to participate in this new landmark event, ‘Titanes’.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! SUMMARY
=======
Santiago de Compostela is the capital of the autonomous community of Galicia, in northwestern Spain.
The city has its origin in the shrine of Saint James the Great, now the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, as the destination of the Way of St. James, a leading Catholic pilgrimage route since the 9th century. In 1985, the city's Old Town was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
