Boone is a city in Des Moines Township, and county seat of Boone County, Iowa, United States. It is the principal city of the Boone, Iowa Micropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Boone County. This micropolitan statistical area, along with the Ames, Iowa Metropolitan Statistical Area comprise the larger Ames-Boone, Iowa Combined Statistical Area. The population of the city was 12,661 at the 2010 census.

The Dickeyville Grotto is a series of grottos and shrines in Dickeyville, Grant County, Wisconsin, United States. It is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 151 and Highway 35. Most of the site's concrete structures are covered in shells, stones, tiles, wood, glass, gems and geodes donated by area parishioners. The site is visited by 40,000 to 60,000 visitors per year.

High Trestle Trail is a rail trail running from Ankeny to Woodward in central Iowa. The recreation trail opened on April 30, 2011. It is a paved recreational trail that runs through the Polk, Story, Boone, and Dallas counties. The trail's name is derived from a former 1913 bridge that spanned the Des Moines River between the towns of Madrid and Woodward. Conservation board directors and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation estimate that more than 3,000 people use this trail each week. The trail is a major component of a planned pair of 100-mile loops that will meet near Des Moines.

It is located approximately 3 miles west of Boone, Iowa. It was nicknamed for the Iowa railroad heroine, Kate Shelley, also spelled Shelly. In 1881, when she was 17 years old, Kate Shelley risked her life to warn a passenger train by crossing the Des Moines River Bridge near Moingona at night, during a thunderstorm. Her goal was to warn the passenger train that the next bridge was out. That train had already been stopped. 1918 Tornado Aftermath, Boone, Arcadia, Iowa

On May 21st, 1918 a significant tornado outbreak occurred with at least 19 touching down in Iowa, including a particularly violent tornado that leveled farms on a path from near Denison through Carroll County to around Stanhope. As it passed through southeastern Webster County this storm nearly destroyed the small towns of Harcourt and Dayton and severely injured a number of children when their school wagon was struck. Another tornado touched down intermittently from near Berkley in Boone County to Wellsburg in Grundy County, killing 10 people and injuring nearly 100. A third storm struck areas around Newton and Kellogg killing several people and injuring dozens of others. In total approximately 19 people were killed and over 150 injured across Iowa.
