Get Lost in Setouchi, Japan: Episode 1
Japan's Setouchi region is known for its crafts, many of which have been famous here for centuries. Samurai swords, Aizome indigo dyeing, jean making, handmade udon--Setouchi artisans have perfected these traditions.
In this episode, we visit iconic places like Okayama's Bizen Osafune Japanese Sword Museum and I dye a scarf, using the method of aizome indigo dyeing. We even take a look at Jean Street, home of all things denim. I even get to customize my own pair of jeans at the popular Betty Smith Jean Factory.
And who knew that making noodles at Nakano Udon School in Kagawa, is actually physically exhausting. There is a lot of dancing involved!

Itsuku-shima-jinja, the shrine inscribed as a World Cultural Heritage Site along with the Genbaku Dome in 1996, is located on Miya-jima Island.
