सबसे ज्यादा प्रयोग की जाने वाली भाषा कच्छी है लेकिन कुछ हद तक गुजराती, हिन्दी और सिन्धी भी बोली जाती है। कच्छी भाषा की मूल लिपि लुप्त हो गई है इसलिये अब यह गुजराती लिपि में लिखी जाती है। कच्छ में कई समूह और समुदाय रहते हैं। पड़ोस के मेवाड़, सिन्ध, अफगानिस्तान क्षेत्रों से प्रावसी आकर कच्छ के मूल निवासियों के साथ घुल मिल गये और इन समूहों का निर्माण हुआ।
