You can also visit the 14th century Romanian icon, Dracula's Castle. This beautiful castle was fabulously renovated in the 19th century by the royal family of Romania. You will awill also have the chance to to visit the Bucegi Mountains, famed for their rock formations, as well Piatra Craiului, 'The King's Rock' National Park, which is now home to the Carpathian Large Carnivore Project (protecting wolves, lynx and bears).
Overall, this is a challenging yet very rewarding expedition, the Trek through the Transylvania Alps is also a trip back in time, to an area where tradition still guides people's lives and where nature is wild.

Climbing Church Mountain
This video is of Rick Dubrow and me (Stephen Trinkaus) climbing Church Mountain on July 2, 2011. The hike is 8.5 miles long, has a 3750 ft. elevation gain, and the summit is at 6,100 ft.. Highlights: I used snow shoes for the first time in my life (there was still a ton of snow up there!), a marmot hanging out on the summit, and some spectacular views. It was Rick's first serious hike since his bike crash and the first high country hike of the season for both of us.
