Dunseith is a city in Rolette County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 773 at the 2010 census. Dunseith is best known for its proximity to the International Peace Garden. The port of entry at the Peace Garden is one of three 24-hour ports in North Dakota . Dunseith is also the home of the world's largest turtle sculpture, the Wee'l Turtle, made of more than 2,000 wheels painted green.

1. International Peace Garden Dunseith
The International Peace Garden is a 3.65-square-mile park located adjacent to the International Peace Garden Border Crossing between Canada and the United States, in the state of North Dakota and the province of Manitoba. It was established on July 14, 1932, as a symbol of the peaceful relationship between the two nations. The legend Peace Garden State was added to vehicle registration plates of North Dakota in 1956, and adopted by the North Dakota Legislative Assembly in 1957 as the official state nickname.

2. Grahams Island State Park Devils Lake
Devils Lake State Parks is the name sometimes applied to the units of the North Dakota state parks system located on Devils Lake, south of the city of Devils Lake in Ramsey County. As of 2017, only the larger remaining unit, 1,122-acre Grahams Island State Park, was in operation. The smaller Black Tiger Bay Recreation Area was closed due to inaccessibility. At one time there were four units on Devils Lake but rising water caused Narrows State Recreation Area to be closed in 1995 and Shelvers Grove's closure in 2004.

A small portion of the lake extends northward into the Rural Municipality of Winchester but is not part of either park.

Portage la Prairie is a small city in the Central Plains Region of Manitoba, Canada. As of 2016, the population was 13,304 and the land area of the city was 24.68 square kilometres . Portage la Prairie is approximately 75 kilometres west of Winnipeg, along the Trans-Canada Highway , and sits on the Assiniboine River, which flooded the town persistently until a diversion channel north to Lake Manitoba was built to divert the flood waters. Along the border between North Dakota and Manitoba, groups will find the International Peace Garden, an oasis of beauty nestled in the Turtle Mountains, as much a celebration of peace as natural beauty.

The 2,339-acre site spans the border between Dunseith, N.D., and Boissevian, Manitoba. It was built in 1932 as a symbol of freedom and has expanded in the ensuing decades. The most recent additions include an interpretive center, 9/11 Memorial Garden and a $2 million updating of the landscaping.

Got Stopped at the Border | Road Trip to the International Peace Garden - ND

Hey Welcome Back!

About 2 weeks ago I took a road trip to North Dakota to visit my grandma and while I was up there we took a drive to the International Peace Garden. The International Peace Garden is located on the border of Dunseith, North Dakota, USA and Boissevian, Manitoba, Canada. Spread across 2,339 acres of land in the Turtle Mountains you will find a beautiful garden of flowers, fountains and statues. A few of the attractions you will see in this video include the 9/11 Memorial, Peace Chapel, the Conservatory, and the Game Warden Museum. To access the peace gardens we had to exit the US, which means on the way back in to the US you had to go through the border cross for inspection. Watch the video to find out what US Customs found in the car…

P.S. - The cactus are huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Abandoned San Haven Sanatorium

It was pretty damn dark on each floor & I forgot to bring a flashlight. xD
A lot of the floors looked the same, nothing worth filming on it’s own so I just did a little run down once reaching the top.
