Elm is a village, and former municipality, in the municipality of Glarus Süd and canton of Glarus in Switzerland. Elm lies in the valley of the Sernf river, and consists of the village of Elm itself, and the hamlets of Sulzbach, Schwändi, Müsli, Untertal, Vogelsang, Töniberg, Obmoos, Steinibach and Wald.

    Stein am Rhein is a historic town and a municipality in the canton of Schaffhausen in Switzerland. The town has a well-preserved medieval centre, retaining the ancient street plan.     The Aare Gorge is a section of the river Aare that carves through a limestone ridge near the town of Meiringen, in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. The gorge is an indirect product of glaciation; 10,000 years ago, just as the Ice Age was coming to an end, torrential runoff water from melting glaciers eroded a deep, narrow chasm through the limestone barrier. Although barely one mile long, this passage is bordered by sheer cliffs up to 165 feet high on either side. Soon the center of the Milky Way will be visible again in Switzerland. Time for long cold nights in the Swiss Alps. Here a short time lapse video from 2014 how the stars circle around the northern star. Taken in November at Lake Chüebodensee (2046m) above Elm in the Canton of Glarus. The rock formation is called Mürligrat (2234). The video contains 351 40sec exposures taken during 4 hours just when the moon was rising.

Demnächst wird das Zentrum der Milchstrasse auch in der Schweiz wieder zu sehen sein. Es ist also wieder Zeit für lange kalte Nächte in den Bergen. Hier schon mal ein kurzes Zeitraffer Video von 2014 wie die Sterne um den Polarstern kreisen. Aufgenommen im November am Chüebodensee (2046m) oberhalb von Elm im Kanton Glarus. Die zusehende Bergkette wird Mürligrat (2234m) genannt. Das Video enthält 351 40sek Belichtungen, die während vier Stunden geschossen wurden, als der Mond aufging.
