Fakarava Blue Lagoon Windstar Cruise Excursion 4K
Fakarava is a cruise destination in French Polynesia for 10-day and longer cruises. In this 4K video we capture the popular blue lagoon cruise exursion that is offered to travelers that visit this atoll in the south pacific. The island has only 400 inhabitiants and is a designated UNESCO biosphere where habitats live in harmony without significant impact from humans. Our 11-day Windstar cruise on the Wind Spirit had a blue lagoon excursion but it was already booked so we went local and joined Ato's tour.
The Fakarava excursion started at the dock that the Wind Spirit tender drops all passengers on to the island. We were met by Ato and his son and then we were off for the bit of a boat ride to the blue lagoon. The first stop as seen in the video is your first opportunity for a snorkel at a motu which was a nice break along the way. There was some chop and current but it was all manageable with nice corals and fish. Next is the blue lagoon which is like being dropped of into paradise and for many why they take the longer cruise to see this part of French Polynesia. The blue lagoon is locally called TEAHATEA, one of the best place of Fakarava. It is technically a lagoon inside the lagoon. The blue lagoon is amazing but not as full of fish as we expected. It is reasonably shallow and there is no current to speak of. Take the time to just relax and enjoy the virgin nature that exists here although this is an area the humans visit. It was a great place to fly the Mavic drone although the winds were quite strong so we decided to keep it low. Ato's team served refreshments and fresh coconut. After a nice visit we departed and headed to our last snorkel stop and then back to the dock.
Diving was reported to very good on this island and we will probably do that on our next cruise through the islands.

Tahaa Drift Snorkeling Windstar Excursion
Equipment Used:
GoPro Hero 5 Black
DJII Mavic Pro Drone
Selfie Stick
Processing in Adobe Premiere
We use the selfie stick for lots of purposed and never selfies :-) When we snorkel or dive we usually use this attached to the gopro camera to extend the camera closer to the item of interest and also find it help with motion. In the clip in the water under the boat we simply dropped it on the side of the boat into the water and then inverted it later to be a different perspective. When we shoot in water we do very little or no stabilization of video in post as that is the way you will experience it.

Pape'ete, Tahiti guide. Town, resort & street food.
Jean has visited Papeete twice and both times has left the town quite quickly to a beach resort. An overnight allows you to try street food here which is quite a special experience. See the town, a resort and street food all on the film.
Tahiti sounds like a paradise. It has some of the best sea in the world, some great beaches. Some terrific resorts, but even for the locals the logic of the expensive economy has to be challenged. Take a look at our film and see a little of Tahiti, more than just the port.
