Copleston Sixth Form vs Greig City Academy - WEABL Week 3 - Highlights
Copleston needed a big second half to secure their first WEABL win of the season against league newcomers Greig City Academy, and they got it, led again by Ashleigh Pink who scored sixteen of her eighteen points in the last two quarters as the Suffolk side took the game 63-51.
The first quarter saw Copleston open a quick lead, despite early foul trouble for both starting bigs, Freya Cooney and Maya Price. They managed to still win the period 13-6 with some solid play off the bench from Grace Sinnot and Amoke Bowman-Boyles.
The second saw a shift in the momentum, as GCA’s defensive adjustments caused Copleston some problems, holding their hosts to fourteen while collecting twenty-one themselves. They were hot from behind the three point line with triples coming from both D’Andri St Marthe and Victoria Somoye Unsby.
The third quarter was a tighter affair with both teams going on mini-runs, but as Pink started to get it going for Copleston, and Maya Price and Grace Sinnot dominating the boards, Copleston held a slight edge.
The fourth period saw Copleston play their best basketball. Frances Musson came alive inside and out, hitting a big three as the team made their run to seal the game, while Sinnot collected seven in the period on her way to a big double-double of thirteen points and thirteen boards – her best game in two seasons in the WEABL.
“I thought today was very sluggish,” said Copleston Coach Nick Drane.
“Their was an odd atmosphere in the gym, it was quiet today, the girls didn’t look with it in the warm up and I certainly didn’t coach my best game. However, we got it done, showed our usual character and its great to be off the mark in this great league.”
Copleston were led by Pink’s 18, who was all over the place as ever in the box score with four boards and assists. She was helped by the play of Maya Price, with another huge double double of 14 points, 13 boards and two blocks. Sinnot added a double-double while Frances Musson picked up nine points, eleven boards and five assists after missing the league opener. For GCA they were paced by 13 from D’Andri St Marthe and 11 from Shanice Flitton.

Silas Marner Audiobook by George Eliot | Audiobook with subtitles
Silas Marner (originally published in 1861): Betrayed by a beloved friend and accused of a crime he didn’t commit, awkward Silas Marner is expelled from his beloved religious community — the only community he has ever known. He exiles himself in the remote village of Raveloe. Friendless and without family, set apart from the villagers by their superstition and fear of him, he plies his weaving trade day after day, storing up gold which becomes his idol. When his gold is stolen, he is rescued from despair by the arrival on his lonely hearth of a beautiful little girl, whom he adopts, and through whom he and the other people of the village learn that loving relationships are more fulfilling than material wealth.
