Terni is a city in the southern portion of the Region of Umbria in central Italy. The city is the capital of the province of Terni, located in the plain of the Nera river. It is 104 kilometres northeast of Rome. It was founded as an Ancient Roman town.
During the 19th century, steel mills were introduced and led the city to have a role in the second industrial revolution in Italy. Because of its industrial importance, the city was heavily bombed during World War II by the Allies. It still remains an industrial hub and has been nicknamed The Steel City and the Italian Manchester. Terni also advertises itself as a City of Lovers, as its patron saint, Saint Valentine, was born and became a bishop here, and the remains are preserved in the basilica-sanctuary in his honour.
In the 14th century Terni issued its own constitution, and from 1353 the walls were enlarged, and new channels were opened. As with many of the Italian communes of the Late Middle Ages, it was beset by civil unrest between the partisans of the Guelphs and Ghibellines, and later between the Nobili and Banderari (Terni's borghesi). Later it joined the Papal States. In 1580 an ironwork, the Ferriera, was introduced to work the iron ore mined in Monteleone di Spoleto, starting the traditional industrial connotation of the city. In the 17th century, however, the population of Terni declined further due to plagues and famines.
The city has three important industrial hubs: the first one is the Stainless Steel Area, called AST (part of the group ThyssenKrupp) and is a wide area located in the east part of Terni. West of the town, there is a second industrial hub, known as Area Polymer, with four different chemical multinational industries. The third industrial hub is Italeaf, which controls TerniEnergia, a company listed on STAR segment of Borsa Italiana, that is active in the renewable energy sector, and promotes and develops technological star-ups in cleantech sector.
Terni is connected with the A1 motorway, the European route E45 and National Road Flaminia by the RATO, a motorway junction. Terni railway station is part of the Ancona–Orte railway, and is also a junction station for two secondary lines, the Terni–Sulmona railway (which links Terni with L'Aquila) and the Terni–Sansepolcro railway (FCU) (which serves Perugia). One of the most important national freight stations is located nearby.

Roman amphitheater, once capable of 10,000 spectators, built in 32 BC.
Porta Sant'Angelo, one of the four Ancient Roman Gates to the city, much restored.
Terni Cathedral (Duomo, Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta) (17th century). Built over one of the most ancient Christian edifices of the city, it has today Baroque lines. In the interior is one organ designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The belfry is from the 18th century. The façade has two mediaeval gates: one of them has the profile of a sabot once used to measure the citizen's shoes in order to ensure that they did not exceed a fixed limit of decency.

Palazzo Mazzancolli is one of the few remains of the Middle Ages past of the city.
Palazzo Gazzoli (18th century), housing the City's Gallery with works by Pierfrancesco d'Amelia, Benozzo Gozzoli, Gerolamo Troppa and Orneore Metelli.
Palazzo Spada (16th century), designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger. It is the current Town Hall.
Lancia di Luce (Lance of Light), by the sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro.

Nearby, at the confluence of the Velino and Nera Rivers, is the Cascata delle Marmore, a 165-metre-high (541-foot) waterfall.

Relaxing tour in the area of Marmore. Who loves nature, the Falls is a wonderful place to visit. You can spend a day in the park.
Before reaching the Marmore Falls we advise to inform about the opening of the water and of the area. At the top of the drop, in fact, the waters of the Velino river have been deviated in the penstock to feed the hydroelectric power plants system; in this way the Falls is visible in its maximum flow and in fixed timetable. The timetables (opening of the area and of the water) change in relation to the seasons (more during the summer and less during the winter). The excursion area (routes n.1-2-3-4-5) closes before the Lower and Upper Outlook for safety reason (an half hour before the sunset).
Viewpoint – in the Falls it is possible to go in two different points: the Upper and the Lower Outlook. The first represents the Lower part of the Falls where you can observe all the three drops made by the Velino river that flows into the Nera river; from here you have an entire view of the Falls, formed by a wonderful view and also panoramic of the first drop. The entrance of one of the two viewpoint doesn’t exclude the possibility to visit the other: it exists in fact a route (n.1) that links the lower with the upper outlook and it takes about 40 minutes to go up and 20 to go down. Who wants avoid to walk, can reach the other viewpoint with cars through the state road (it takes about 12 km).
The visiting – the buy of the ticket includes the visiting to the Lower and Upper Outlook, the excursion area that are 5 routes of different difficulty: who enters in the lower part doesn’t buy another ticket for visiting the upper part and vice-versa. With an additional cost, instead of, it is possible to benefit of the additional service offers planned during the week (speleological tours, nighttimes tours, naturalistic tour, the enchanted walk for children, the classical guided tour and the botanical tour etc.). For information about the days when it organizes the visits and for booking, we advise to phone to the ticket-office or to the call center of the cooperative Sistema Museo (referring numbers above). Groups or people in general can request the organization of the guided tours in particular dates, different from the panned ones, but it is necessary the minimum numbers for the inscription.

Famous for more than olive oil, spaghetti and food in general, Italy is a wonderfully diverse country with a broad spectrum of historic, contemporary and natural sites that makes it among the world’s most popular destinations for foreign visitors looking to get a great bang for their travel buck.
In Italian, waterfall is ‘cascata’ or ‘cascate.’ No matter how you choose to spell it, Italy is packed with waterfalls.
North of Piedmont, with the 143-meter-tall Toce Waterfall in Val Formazza’s Frua. It is one of Italy’s most spectacular falls, and inspired great artists such as Carducci, Wagner and D’Annunzio.
Priest and writer Pietro Stoppani (1865-1941) described it as the most beautiful, the most powerful waterfall of the Alps.
In 1863, a beautiful hotel was built at the top of the waterfall, nearly 1,700 meters above sea level. It is still in business, after being renovated in the 1920s by great architect Piero Portaluppi.
“Cascata del Toce” - “Toce waterfall”
At nearly 470 feet tall (143m), Toce Waterfall, in northwest Italy’s “Piemonte” (Piedmont) region, has been called one of the country’s most amazing waterfalls.
It’s been a favorite subject of European artists for centuries, and a famous hotel built on the site in the 1860s is still operating if you’d like to end your day of sightseeing in the lap of luxury.
Located in the mountain town of Formazza (hence the name of the valley, “Val Formazza”), the area is full of amazing views and hiking trails that’ll take you to the best viewing areas for the falls.
There are also a restaurant and gift shop on site, and remember to pack wisely, as it can get downright chilly here even in the summer months. Who is planning to spend an holiday period on the Lake Maggiore, is warmly suggested to plan a visit to these “Foce falls”, located on the mountains over the “Domodossola” town, about 1500m ASL. Further up and at the most extreme part of the Piedmont region, acroos the Alps, there’s Switzerland.
History of the waterfall
During his Grand Tour of Italy, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited the Roman ruins of Villa Gregoriana in Tivoli and stopped to admire the Grand Waterfall of the Aniene River. He then wrote in his diary, The waterfalls there with the ruins, and the whole complexity of landscapes, are of a class of subjects, acquaintance with which is an enrichment of our whole nature to its utmost reach (“Italian Journey”, June 16th 1787).
Waterfalls are indubitably some of Italy’s most evocative natural wonders, with many of the country’s rivers falling down loud chasms, with impressive jumps and perpetual thunder.
This was the first time that he had ever really seen overhanging rocks, rushing waterfalls, and deep ravines clothed with moss and plants; but he had had visions of such places in his youthful dreams, Goethe wrote in another of his works, “Wilhelm Meister’s Apprenticeship”. He felt younger while looking at them; all the pain he had suffered seemed washed away out of his soul.

Video shot on June 16th, 2019, with the YI M1 mirror-less camera, with its (kit) 12-40mm f3.5-5.6 lens and a vintage Nikon/Nikkor 50mm E-series f1.8 fixed focal lens. A few, panormic shots, were also taken with the YI 4K action cam with the 100Mb/s bit rate hack and the gimbal.
I also used a small portable mini-tripod, especially for shooting the time-lapses.
Edited in DaVinci Resolve 16 (beta 4) trial version. All clips have been slightly color corrected as for exposure/contrast, shadows, mid-tones etc and also stabilized in post, especially those shot with the 50mm Nikon lens (that becomes a 80mm due to the crop factor). A few clips are still a bit shaky despite the stabilization applied in post, as the stabilization in DaVinci is not 100% perfect: those clips, shot where I could find anywhere to lean at, were particularly shaky due to rather string wind. Video rendered in 4K UHD 3840x2160p @30fps. Video file-size: 6.47GB, average bit rate: 142Mbps.

The Dolomites well deserve to be in the UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites. It's a mesmerizing, ancient and mystical location, where you can enjoy nature at its best. It is one of those places that makes you understand why Italy is such a famous place for tourism. Footage was captured with a DJI Inspire2 & DJI Zenmuse X7 camera using the Apple ProRes RAW codec.
Gherdëina (Ladin); Italian: Val Gardena [val ɡarˈdeːna]; German: Gröden [ˈɡrøːdn̩]) is a valley in Northern Italy, in the Dolomites of South Tyrol. It is best known as a skiing, rock climbing, and woodcarving area. The valley's main river is the Derjon. The three municipalities in Gherdëina are Urtijëi, Sëlva, and Santa Cristina; they were served by the Fërata de Gherdëina from 1916 until 1960.
Gherdëina is one of five valleys with a majority of Ladin speakers (two of these valleys are in South Tyrol). The form of the Ladin language spoken in this valley is called Gardenese in Italian, Grödnerisch in German and Gherdëina in Ladin.

Neste video encontra imagens do percurso entre Novate Mezzola (Sondrio) e San Siro, excerto da viagem entre Novate Mezzola e Cadenabbia. Percurso sempre com o por-do-sol de fundo, passando por várias localidades e com algum tráfego do regresso a casa no final de dia. Passagem por alguns tunéis que encurtámos as imagens.

This video is images of the route between Novate Mezzola (Sondrio) and San Siro, excerpt from the journey between Novate Mezzola and Cadenabbia. Trip always with the background sunset, passing through several locations and with some homecoming traffic at the end of the day. Passing through some tunnels we shortened the images.
