The building was designed by architect Kostas Skroumpellos and is on the site of the ancient city of Pella. Patmos in the Dodecanese is an important island in Greece's religious history and a significant pilgrimage place for many Catholics. The Apocalypse monastery with its cave where John is said to have written the Book of Revelation and the Monastery of Saint John testifies to this. Patmos also has many nice beaches as this video shows.
