    Ähtäri is a town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the Southern Ostrobothnia region. The town has a population of 5,788 and covers an area of 910.87 square kilometres of which 105 km2 is water. The population density is 7.19 inhabitants per square kilometre . The municipality is unilingual Finnish. Ähtäri is known for its zoo and hotel Mesikämmen designed by Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen which is partly built within bedrock. The biggest lake in the area is Ähtärinjärvi. There is also a relatively old and small board mill called Vääräkosken Pahvi in Ähtäri. The largest private sector employers are Inhan Tehtaat, Silver-Veneet, Tankki, and Muovilami.

    Seinäjoki is a city located in South Ostrobothnia, Finland. Seinäjoki originated around the Östermyra bruk iron and gunpowder factories founded in 1798. Seinäjoki became a municipality in 1868, market town in 1931 and town in 1960. In 2005, the municipality of Peräseinäjoki was merged into Seinäjoki, and in the beginning of 2009, the neighbouring municipalities of Nurmo and Ylistaro were consolidated with Seinäjoki. The Town library, Lakeuden Risti Church and central administrative buildings are designed by Alvar Aalto. The asteroid 1521 Seinäjoki bears the town's name.     Kvarken is the narrow region in the Gulf of Bothnia separating the Bothnian Bay from the Bothnian Sea. The distance from Swedish mainland to Finnish mainland is around 80 km while the distance between the outmost islands is only 25 km . The water depth in the Kvarken region is only around 25 metres . The region also has an unusual rate of land rising at about 10 mm a year. On the Finnish side of Kvarken, there is a large archipelago, the Kvarken Archipelago, which includes the large islands Replot, Björkö and a large number of smaller islands.
