While traveling the country for more than 2 weeks I discovered a new side of the island almost every day. I have been in Sri Lanka for a video production and got to see and experience a lot in a comparably short amount of time.
Accompanied by local guides and wildlife experts I visited several places all over the country: from Colombo through the center to the north-east, afterwards I flew back and went to the south coast and continued to Yala as well as the highlands in Kandy. ■ SRI LANKA, KANDY: As I drove away from Kandy my motorbike kept breaking down. Not in the mood to be stranded on some rural road in the middle of the jungles of central Sri Lanka I searched for hotels using Google Maps. Turns out just a short one hour drive North of my position there was a hotel with a 9.7 star rating on Booking.com.
This I had never seen before! I've also never seen anything in this price range either away from both a beach and a major city. After 2 minutes of going back and forth with myself curiosity got the better of me and I made an executive call. I booked the $250 room at the Sri Lankan resort in the middle of the jungle. Now all I had to do was find it before the bike broke down yet again....
Two weeks in Sri Lanka - Ella Part 2 | Sri Lanka Travel Vlog
Ella is a mountain town in the Central Highland of Sri Lanka. The train ride from Kandy to Ella is perfect for capturing views across the beautiful landscapes however it does the scenic route roughly taking 7-8 hours. Although a very small town there's much to do such as visiting the Nine Arch Bridge, Ravanna Falls and Little Adam's Peak.
