Melivoia is a town and a former municipality in the Larissa regional unit, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Agia, of which it is a municipal unit. Population 2,195 . The municipal unit has an area of 197.633 km2. The seat of the municipality was in Kato Sotiritsa. Melivoia is located east of Larissa, the capital of the regional unit and Thessaly, and a few kilometers north of Agia. The municipal unit stretches along the Aegean Sea coast, at the foot of Mount Ossa. It was named after the ancient city Meliboea. The municipal unit borders on Magnesia to the southeast.

Dion or Dio is a village and a former municipality in the Pieria regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality Dio-Olympos, of which it is a municipal unit. It is located at the foot of Mount Olympus at a distance of 17km from the capital city of Katerini. It is best known for its great ancient Macedonian sanctuary of Zeus and city, much of which is visible in the Archaeological Park of Dion and the Archaeological Museum of Dion.

Since 1986, nearly every year, various initiators organize marathons in the Olympus Mountains in Greece. For these Olympus Marathons the classic distance of 42.195 kilometers provides a clue to the distance of some of the runs in the Olympus. Starting in 2010, events established that surpass the classic marathon distance. In some races, runners run over distances of 57 km, 70 km or almost 100 km. At the stations along the route, the runners are provided with drinks and snacks and mostly medical aid. They are offered water, electrolytic drinks, bananas, salty biscuits, sandwiches, chocolates and more. The medical care is provided by rescue services. The fastest runners finishes the race in about four hours.

Griechische Inseln kefallonia Top-Strände

Kefalonia (neugriechisch Κεφαλονιά, altgriechisch Κεφαλληνία, Kephallēnía, ital. Cefalonia und früher teilw. Cefalogna) ist eine griechische Insel am Ausgang des Golfs von Patras und Teil der Präfektur Kefallinia. Sie ist mit 688,8 km² die größte der Ionischen Inseln. Die Insel hat nach vielen Jahren der Landflucht nun eine starke Bevölkerungszunahme durch Zuwanderung zu verzeichnen (21,9 % in den Jahren 1991 bis 2001, die zweithöchste in Griechenland). Heute wohnen etwa 40.000 Einwohner auf Kefalonia.[1] Im einheimischen Sprachgebrauch wird die eigene Insel zumeist „Kefalliniá (Κεφαλληνιά) genannt und mit Doppel-L geschrieben.

Der wichtigste Ort auf der Insel ist Argostoli an der Südwest-Küste, gefolgt von Lixouri. Die höchste Erhebung ist der Berg Ainos mit 1.628 m über NN. Kefalonia ist eine beliebte Urlaubsinsel. Die Insel wird im Sommer hauptsächlich von Briten besucht und ist touristisch gut erschlossen. Auch zahlreiche Italiener nutzen die Gewässer um die buchtenreiche Insel als Bootsrevier. Von Juni bis September sind die Übernachtungszahlen der Touristen am höchsten, ab Oktober halten sich vor allem Athener als Gäste dort auf.
