    Valle Gran Rey is a municipality in the western part of the island La Gomera, in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the Canary Islands, Spain. The Guanche name of the area was Orone. The seat of the municipality since 1930 is La Calera; previously it was in Arure. The population was 4,240 in 2013, and the area is 32.36 square kilometres . Valle Gran Rey borders the municipality of Vallehermoso to the east, while the Atlantic Ocean lies to the west.

    Garajonay National Park is located in the center and north of the island of La Gomera, one of the Canary Islands . It was declared a national park in 1981 and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. It occupies 40 km2 and it extends into each of the six municipalities on the island. Nearly 450,000 tourists visit the park every year. There is accommodation for tourists just outside the park's boundary.The park is named after the rock formation of Garajonay, the highest point on the island at 1,487 m . It also includes a small plateau whose altitude is 790-1,400 m above sea level.
