The 6 most beautiful villages of Ithaca, Greece HD
The villages of Ithaca are eight in overall. The total population of the island amounts to 3,300 inhabitants, from who almost half live in the capital of Ithaca and the rest in the small villages.
The southern part of the island includes the city of Ithaca, which is also called Vathi. It is built around the safest natural harbor of the Ionian Sea and it has a health center, Port Authority and Coast Guard as well as a Police department, fire and public services.
In the southern part of Ithaca lies Perachori, which is the most populated of the villages on the island. It is built on a hill and offers an endless view towards Vathi, the numerous islands of the Ionian Sea, as well as the coasts of Central Greece.
At the northern part of Ithaca are the rest six picturesque villages of the island. The road from Vathi passes originally from Lefki, with the lovely view towards Kefalonia and the spectacular sunset. Then we find Stavros, a significant village of northern Ithaca, with a variety of accommodation facilities and restaurants at the central square.
Then, the road splits in two directions: if you turn to the right, you will find Frikes, a picturesque fishing village with tavernas, and Kioni, which has been designated as a protected traditional settlement and is for many the most beautiful village of the island. If you turn to the left, you will reach Exogi, built on a hilltop and Platrithias, built in the valley.
Anogi is the most mountainous village of the island, built at the top of Mount Niritos. You will find it if you follow the road to the right, after arriving at Stavros or if you follow the right bypass of the road leading to Moni Katharon.

Greece Video
A short video of a street in Greece. Enjoy your holiday! Top 10 sights of Greece:
landmark number 1 Medieval city of Rhodes.
The eponymous capital of Rhodes is located on the island of Rhodes. The old town of Rhodes consists of medieval fortifications that form a fine example of urban areas from the Gothic period. The entire old town of Rhodes is therefore on the World Heritage List of UNESCO. Highlights are the Grand Master's Palace, the Great Hospital and the Street of the Knights. Apart from a beautiful piece of heritage, the old part of Rhodes City is also an atmospheric place for shopping and eating out.
sight number 2 Delphi.
The archaeological site of Delphi (Delfi) is one of the most important relics of Greek antiquity. Archaeological Delphi includes temples, treasuries, altars and theaters. The Oracle of Delphi, who was dedicated to the god Apollon, was a very important oracle. The Pythian Games were held in Delphi. Highlights of the archaeological site are the treasury of the Athenians, the Apollo temple and the amphitheater.
landmark number 3 Acropolis of Athens.
Central to the Greek capital Athens is the Acropolis of Athens, a table mountain that is visible from a large part of the city. This upper city has always been the religious core of Athens. On the Acropolis there are a number of historical buildings such as the Parthenon, the Propyles, the Temple of Nikè and the Erechtheion. The accompanying Acropolis museum has been completely renewed for several years.
landmark number 4 Meteora.
In Central Greece there are rock formations that have been given a nice appearance due to wind erosion and water erosion. On these rock formations located in Thessaly are so-called meteora. These are monasteries built on top of the rocks. Over time, various monasteries have been lost. Today, six of these medieval monasteries remain intact, some of which are still inhabited by monks.
landmark number 5 Oia.
The town of Oia is located on the island of Santorini. It is one of the most photographed places in Greece, which is mainly caused by the enchanting sunset over the houses built on a hill. These painted houses are often depicted in magazines and on websites that are about Greece.
sight number 6 Olympia.
Ancient Olympia is the place where the Olympic Games were born. The flame is still being ignited in Olympia before the Olympics to eventually travel across the world to the place where this four-yearly sporting event is being held. Olympia was, contrary to what is often written, not a city. That was because there were hardly permanent residents. The archaeological site includes various ruins and remains such as the temple dedicated to Hera and the Zeus Temple. The archaeological site Olympia is open daily from 8 am to 3 pm.
landmark number 7 Samaria Gorge.
Greece is a great country for hiking. One of the most popular hiking routes is through the Samaria gorge on Crete. This gorge can be found in the Lefki Ori Mountains, in the southwest of Crete. The total journey is about 16 kilometers long, which according to many would mean that the Samaria Gorge is the longest gorge in Europe. It is important to start well prepared for the walk. The rocky route requires good walking shoes. Sun and heat protection are also important. Especially sufficient water is a must if you participate in this hour-long tour. The gap is open from April or May until the end of September, depending on weather conditions.
landmark number 8 Navagio Beach.
Greece has a lot of beaches that are worth mentioning. It's not without reason why so many tourists travel to different Greek seaside resorts in the summer months. Which beach is the best is of course a subjective opinion that everyone can give a different answer to. A beach in Greece that I believe is a place in the top ten attractions of Greece is Navagio Beach.
landmark number 9 Athos.
The Athos peninsula and the mountain of the same name are a special destination within Greece. Athos is also called the Holy Mountain. The area has an autonomous status within Greece. On Athos there are twenty monasteries of the Orthodox Church, the oldest of which are about a thousand years old. Whoever wants to visit Athos will have to be lucky enough to be one of the ten elected non-Orthodox men who receive an access permit for Athos every day. Women are not allowed at all in Athos.
landmark number 10 National Archaeological Museum of Athens.
Many archaeological finds from all over Greece can now be admired at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.
