Places to see in ( Murcia - Spain ) La Manga del Mar Menor
La Manga, or La Manga del Mar Menor is a seaside spit of Mar Menor in the Region of Murcia, Spain. The strip is 21 km long and 100 metres wide, separating the Mediterranean Sea from the Mar Menor lagoon, from Cabo de Palos to the Punta del Mojón.
Historically, it was known by the Romans as Palus and later by the Moors as Al Buhayrat Al Qsarand. In the 17th century its name changed to Mar Chico, meaning small sea and later as El Mar Menor. Originally, it was a bay opening into the Mediterranean; at either end, volcanic reefs gradually held back the sand and sediment that was dragged along by the sea currents to form a sandy column of dunes and rock vegetation and long beaches in contact with two seas. La Manga sandbar is cut off by natural channels that keep the two seas in contact with each other; the so-called golas allow water from the Mediterranean into the lake. As such, the space was untouched until the 1960s, when La Manga was discovered as a tourist resort and underwent a transformation which included the urbanisation of the area and the construction of tourist infrastructures.
In 1938, during the Spanish Civil War, the Battle of Cape Palos took place near the cape. Its lighthouse began operating on January 31, 1865. The cape is part of a marine reserve, the Reserva Marina de Cabo de Palos e Islas Hormigas.
The Mar Menor with its 5 islands and having shallow and protected waters, lends itself to being an International waterbased Sports Station. There are sailing and skiing schools that run periodical courses, as well as windsurfing and catamarans, and canoeing. In the nearby town of Los Belones is a stadium, La Manga Stadium, known for hosting numerous football clubs from all over the world during the winter months. La Manga Cup at La Manga Club has been staged every year since 1999.

La Manga is a unique location in Europe, it is a strip of land 21 Km long and 300 metres wide (average). La Manga means ‘sleeve’ and it is a strip of land which separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Mar Menor (Small Sea). Along it’s coast on both sides, there are beautiful ‘Blue Flag’ beaches with white sands, ideal for family holidays. The Mar Menor is the largest lagoon in Europe and has a surface area of 130 sq km and a maximum depth of 8 metres. The crystal clear waters are warm, calm and rich in salts and minerals, in fact the temperature never falls below 18degrees. In certain areas of the Mar Menor the therapeutic clays can be found, these are a favourite with the Spanish tourists, who cover themselves with the clay and then bake in the hot sun. It is said to be good for skin complaints, rheumatism and arthritis etc. La Manga offers the tourists a wide range to choose from, including, Spanish, Greek, Indian, Chinese, Mexican etc. The Tomas Maestre Marina which is situated towards the end of La Manga Strip comes alive at night with its many bars and restaurants. When visiting La Manga you must try the local fish and shellfish fresh from the sea, or a traditional famous Paella, a typical rice dish with fresh seafood. There is an open air market, throughout the year, every Sunday at Cabo de Palos located at the start of La Manga Strip.

Radtour La Manga am Mittelmeer in Spanien Teil1/Bike tour La Manga Mediterranean Sea in Spain part1
Hallo liebe Weltenbummler/innen,
Liebe Grüße eure Franzi alias White Rastas

Hello dear Globetrotters
After I introduced you to our campsite in La Manga in the last video I will now show you the surroundings of the campsite. We did a bike ride to La Manga del Mar Menor and let our camera run while driving. So I could now create a video in which you can see the area. Fantastic long sandy beaches hotel to hotel only the missing people make the trip seem like a drive through a ghost town. We were there in the middle of May 2018 and enjoyed it very much so that you could drive anywhere without obstacles. For cyclists a nice area. Since we drive a total of 47 km that day and my videos have material of hours, I put together two videos again. This is the first part of two to our bike ride in La Manga.I wish you a lot of fun watching. You can also rate, comment and share the video.
Greetings your Franzi alias White Rastas

spain tax
It's a dream come true ... a place in the Costas but there is another side to owning villas overseas which is altogether less relaxing and that is the requirement of paying tax in Spain. The tax system in Spain moves around self assessment and it can be complicated for people who don't reside in Spain.
Mistakes in working out Spain tax can be expensive leaving home owners liable to fines and other issues when you come to try and sell your villa in the future. Tax in Spain can make Inland Revenue look easy as tax is charged by three different levels of Government in Spain, at a state regional and town level.
Non residents must make sure that they pay the correct amount of tax to these three authorities. Property owners have to obtain the right tax document, work out the correct amount of tax liable, complete the form, submit the forms to the Spanish tax inspector, pay the bill and deal with any questions from the Spanish tax office .
This can be a nightmare to some non resident Brits as it is not always clear the amount due to be paid , where to get the right paperwork nor how to make the payments. Language is also a big issue to non Spanish speakers as translations are often necessary.
It is often advisable to seek out a expert on Spanish tax law and get their professional support through the process. Although there is a price attached to this it is likely to be money well spent to dodge fines and sleepless nights.
